Holiday Diner — Restaurant in Danbury

Holiday is a Classic for locals .. it's been around for many years and the food is always consistent .. Tasty, hot, fast and fresh ! They excel at all the standard Diner fare. They make what your momma used to make, but they just do it better (don't let mom know .. lol). Please don't think that Holiday just stops there .. they have daily and weekly specials that are pretty much exceptional in both flavor and quality .. The regulars flock in on their favorite day(s)and I actually rarely order off the regular menu because there's always something on the Specials Menu that catches my eye. Always be sure to check out their soup of the day .. I'm only ever disappointed when I can't have a cup. Holiday is also known for making one of the best authentic Milkshakes in town, with many unique options as well as any thing you can come up with .. if they have the ingredient, you can put it in your shake .. including a few liquor options if you'd like (and are over 21). With the onset of CoVid, Holiday has adapted and, in my opinion, excelled at meeting the challenge. It's always been a clean, safe place to go .. and they haven't let that slide .. they've also added some outdoor seating that's quite nice. Beside their normal care with to-go food, they've added some unique options for feeding families .. When I was in the other day, they were offering a take-out Brunch for 4 option (drinks included), as well as a Burger Meal package that includes enough food and burgers to feed 12 (you have to cook/grill the burgers yourself). Next time you're invited to chill with friends and family at the park or beach, you can just call Holiday and not worry about prepping the meal .. how easy! If you are visiting the Danbury area in Connecticut, and you are looking for incredible food for Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner, I suggest to visit the Holiday Diner located in the heart of the city Danbury. When you arrive at this wonderful diner, you will be greeted upon entering by the owner, his name is George. Be ready for some incredible and friendly service, delicious food, and wonderful hospitality. George and his staff will make you feel like a guest visiting the home of a good friend. The food is delicious, the serving size is much more than expected. The price is just right. I enjoy the solvaki and rice dish, which cones with pitas, chicken, onion, rice, green peppers and tomatoes in a rectangular dish, also included is a cup of soup or a Greek salad which is yummy..with stuffed grapes leaves, feta cheese, tomatoes, kalamata olives, onions, and pepperoncini. For desert they offer coffee, pies, cheesecake, tapioca pudding, rice pudding, muffins and danishes. If you wish to have a bar drink with your meal, George can accommodate this request as well. If you are lucky to get a window seat, you can view the trains at the New England Train museum, and/or the world's tallest statue of Uncle Sam. Came here with my family on a Sunday morning waited over 15 minutes to be greeted, took 15 more minutes just to get drinks. As we’re ordering the server is distracted. I had to repeat my order 3 times then she gets rude with me when I’m trying to order. I was over it at that point and told her forget it we’re leaving! Tried to talk to manager or owner and he was unresponsive and unapologetic because we said his server sucked he said for us to get out which we were leaving anyway as we’re leaving he tried to shut the door on us and ended up hitting my one year old baby with the door so my husband lost his cool & was ready to fight in there. If you want quick and good service DO NOT GO HERE!!!! I don’t know if it was because we were a black family or because we are young looking but we had our 2 kids and my pregnant self we did not go there looking for any issues. They just suck all around.
