I was at the Fort Lauderdale Airport at the crack of dawn when I decided to check out Resurrection Cup Coffee. The only places open that early are coffee shops. Ha. This spot has been on my list and I just wanted coffee and some chill time to read. I had this place bookmarked but what sold me was the little library they had. Coffee + books = bonus!!!
Resurrection Cup Coffee is located close to the Fort Lauderdale Airport, about 7 minutes to be exact. They have a very spacious patio with plenty of shaded areas, which is nice considering how hot it gets here.
I was taking it all in and checking out the place. You can tell I was a newbie. The lovely lady behind the counter was very hospitable. She asked if it was my first time and showed me the menu on the wall behind me with the coffee and food options. Of course you can't miss the lovely pastries next to the counter too. She introduced herself and we made proper introductions. Her name was Alice. I asked if she was the owner. Of course she was. You can just tell because of how much she cares about the guests. I loved Alice's calm and cool demeanor. She was incredibly kind and helpful. I asked how long Resurrection Cup Coffee has been open and funny enough, they were celebrating 3 years on October 4th!!! Yayyyyy. Congrats on the anniversary Alice!
I ordered the pumpkin spice latte. Had to. It's officially fall season ya'll. And I'm a sucker for pumpkin season. Alice said I could sit inside or outside and they will bring the coffee to me. They're very quick and efficient here because shortly after I placed my order, a gentleman named Angel delivered my drink. I couldn't help but watch Angel work because he hustles like nobody's business. You can tell he's a hard worker! I appreciate that so much.
My coffee was perfectly hot, smooth and tasty! I love the whole vibe here. Service is fan-freaking-tastic. Quality is great. Decor is fun with the old school Ms. Pac-Man arcade game. Can we also talk about the lovely Henry Cavill Superman cutout in the real life Photo Booth? The library idea is a bonus, especially for book lovers like myself. I can hang out here all day.
I also noticed on my receipt that my 12oz coffee was only $3.89!!! Super inexpensive and affordable compared to other coffee shops. And unlike other places, Resurrection didn't have a tip section on my credit card payment when I paid out. Say what?!? When I realized that, I went to drop a cash tip in the tip jar by the register. I also asked Alice about it. She said they didn't want people to feel obligated to tip. They just wanted to provide good coffee, food and service for their guests! WOW. The owners here are amazing human beings! I applaud them for that. But I also want to give them my money because they are creating such a nice coffee community here. People come here and they know Alice by name so they're obviously regulars. Love that! It's like Cheers but for coffee. Lol.
A wonderful coffee shop in Fort Lauderdale. Check them out if you're in the area! By the way, check out their hours of operation sign. Oh. Em. Gee!!! The owners also have a wicked sense of humor. I freaking love this...
Read moreI cannot recommend this establishment due to both quality and transparency concerns.
Their Colombian-Brazilian blend demonstrates poor execution of what should be distinctive beans. Colombian beans typically offer a balanced medium body with caramel sweetness and subtle fruity notes, while Brazilian beans are known for their nutty, chocolate-like character with a smooth finish. However, their latte completely fails to showcase any of these regional characteristics, instead tasting remarkably similar to chain store coffee. As someone who has enjoyed quality Colombian and Brazilian coffees elsewhere, I can confidently say this blend does them no justice. While I personally prefer Ethiopian beans for their bright, fruity profiles, my criticism isn't about preference - it's about their failure to properly showcase the inherent qualities of their chosen beans.
As for their "freshly squeezed" orange juice - this was another disappointment. As someone whose mother has been an avid orange juice drinker for years, with extensive experience distinguishing fresh from processed juice, I trust her immediate recognition that this wasn't freshly squeezed. The owner opted for a silent refund without any explanation or evidence of their claimed preparation method.
While they pride themselves on treating elderly customers 'respectfully,' true respect would have been demonstrating the authenticity of their product when questioned, not offering a refund to quiet legitimate concerns and then later characterizing justified suspicion as unreasonable behavior. If someone believes they've been deceived, their emotional response isn't the issue - the potential deception is. This attempt to shift blame onto the customer for reacting to potential deception, rather than addressing the validity of their 'freshly squeezed' claim, speaks volumes about their business practices.
Maybe a business isn't obligated to prove their claims. However, in the food service industry, transparency about preparation methods isn't just good business practice - it's increasingly standard.
I understand this is a family-owned business, and some might argue that small businesses deserve more lenient reviews. However, I believe family ownership should inspire higher standards, not excuse lower ones. Customers shouldn't have to compromise on quality or transparency simply because a business is family-owned. In fact, maintaining high standards is crucial for any business's long-term success, family-owned or otherwise.
Being kind in service, while commendable, doesn't compensate for product quality concerns or the need for transparency about...
Read moreTheir hours are strange, but their quality is not! This review is long overdue. I first visited Resurrection Cup in November 2021 not too long after I started a new job in the area. I've lost count how many times I've been back since, but the consistency and quality in the drinks, food, and especially customer service is unparalleled. When all the reviews are telling you how friendly everyone there is, they absolutely mean it. Rita and the team are literally the best! Diego and Angel have been making my favorite iced vanilla chais to perfection each and every single time I've visited. Due to my addiction to the creamiest vanilla chai I've ever had, I can only honestly tell you that the only other drinks I've tried are the matcha latte and caramel macchiato, and they're all delicious.
The croissants and pastries are always fresh and delicious, so don't be surprised when you show up around lunch time (has happened to me so many times) and find the pastries ransacked (a true testament to their tastiness). My favorite is the dulce de leche croissant. They offer to hold one for you if you call in advanced, so that's much appreciated! Their sandwiches and all day breakfast are also great and I think extremely reasonably priced, so I definitely recommend it. They're constantly expanding and adding to their food offerings. I last tried a pan con lechon and it hit the spot.
The interior is very welcoming with some really cool murals and illustrations on the windows. There are books to peruse while you're there and a fair amount of seating inside and outside to work, study, or just hang out with friends for a quick lunch. The tables inside are covered with some really fun collages of old Hollywood stars and films. Who wouldn't mind sitting down enjoying their coffee with Orson Welles?
I honestly couldn't recommend a place more than this one. If you're in the area,...
