I almost feel bad reviewing this place. It gives the impression of a place that was once decent, but was crushed by the effects of Covid and never recovered. I don’t know if that’s what actually happened here, but whatever transpired, things could be better at the moment.
There was a sign on the door as we entered encouraging patrons to order takeout rather than dine in. I soon found out the reason for this. The food on the buffet, which looked like it had been there since the morning, had either a pasty, gelatinous, consistency, or was so dried out it appeared mummified. The cleanliness was not great, with a couple of random surfaces yielding a greasy texture to my touch. The furniture all appears to be in a minor state of disrepair, and let’s not talk about the bathroom.
Also, it was immediately apparent that the place was running on a skeleton crew. I saw three employees the whole time. The girl who seated us was courteous enough, and the older gentleman who got our drinks offered to cook us more of any item on the buffet if we wanted. I didn’t have time to take him up on his offer, or I could give a better account of what the fresh versions of the food were like. As it was, I ate most of one plate But had no desire to eat more in order to “get my moneys worth.” The flavors and textures on display were below average to average. However, I actually must give them props that, despite the appearance and apparent age of the food, it was kept hot enough that I have yet to have a digestive geyser erupt from either end of my body.
Overall the place has an insolvent and neglected feel, like an almost forgotten truckstop that is barely able to keep the doors open. If I have the opportunity, I will order takeout in order to assess whether the fresh versions of the dishes on offer redeem this establishment at all. Just the same, I would encourage people to heed the sign on the door and don’t dine in. At the very least avoid the buffet,...
Read moreMe my father and my Baby would go to Danville for my babys appointments and most of the time would stop at This buffet.. Aside from one other buffet that's closed down near where I live I would say this place is easily the best I ever had in my life. Don't even get me started on the brownies in the dessert section. When I tell you I never had brownies that good I wish I was lying. The brownies are so simple though no icing or anything on them but somehow they managed to make them the moistest Brownie on planet Earth. They arent too sweet and in my opinion are me fave brownies I ever had. I haven't been to is buffet a in a while because my father passed away so I dont think i can go in there without crying but I really hope they didn't change because I plan on coming back eventually and will be looking foward to the brownies and cheese wonton ! I...
Read moreI had mixed reviews on this place so I decided to check it out myself. The food is not the best. I went shortly after they opened to make sure that the food was fresh and hot. I was not impressed with the beef pepper steak, chicken and broccoli, lo mein, or honey mustard chicken. The spare ribs were very tough but the sauce was amazing. These would've topped everything if the meat was actually tender. The other would've been the pot stickers. These has the best flavor I've ever had at any restaurant in this area but they were ice cold in the middle. Again the sauce was also amazing for these as well. This is a very small buffet but exactly what I expected. I heard it had gone downhill so I didn't have high expectations but it needs LOTS of improvement. Unfortunately I will not...
