Perkins targets the "older" demographic and it's a wonder that seniors don't drop dead while they're paying their tab from a stroke after they eat there. I am suffering a dreadful case of edema from having eaten there, yesterday.
Outrageously expensive and all of the food comes off the same Sysco or Aramak trucks that supply every other restaurant in the world and extraordinarily over-processed - NOTHING IS FRESH. The portions are small. The baked goods are in a state of defrost and ridiculously overpriced. The facility is shabby and dingy. The host had a cold and was wiping his nose while he was seating customers and handing them menus.
Coffee comes in a carafe so that the waitress/er doesn't have to leg-it back and forth to the table. This costs $2.40 PER CUP. For that amount I can buy a bag of delicious ground coffee and brew at home! The burger was thin - like the bottom of a shoe. The asparagus-mushroom-chicken meal was this: 6 spears of string-thin asparagus spears that were badly charred; a cup of rice pilaf; one "grilled" chicken breast that was 1/4 inch thick and approximately 3 oz. That was it. No salad or other side to go along with this.
Waitress was very solicitous..........NOT. Dropped the check at the table along with the meals and this dismissive practice is to turn over customers and get them out as quickly as possible to make way for more customers.
I do NOT recommend Perkins for any reason. It's expensive. It's shabby. It's run-of-the-mill, and it's very, very unhealthy due to...
Read moreWe've been here twice now after leaving Geisinger for appointments. The food was great both times and food comes fast, but the service is not great. The wait staff and managers are all friendly and I suspect the wait staff has too much to do or too many tables, they are super busy. But from our point of view, we waited and waited (after fasting, so thirsty!) for the first visit to order drinks. After the food was delivered, our waitress disappeared and we never saw her again, so no refills and no requests for extra gravy. We were finished with our food and just ready to get on the long drive home. We thought maybe we'd get pie to take home, but since she never came back, we ordered it at the counter when we paid. It was less than satisfactory to not at least have a check-in etc.
As a side note, I noticed there were a lot of seniors at the restaurant. My mom (a senior/70s) and I were waiting to be seated when two senior ladies came in and actually tried to push ahead of us. They felt that as seniors they should have priority and just bypass the line. (?) Another senior person did that to us when we were waiting to pay. It's an odd dynamic. Perhaps they are regulars but it was disconcerting and rude. (The hostess still seated us first, she saw what...
Read moreServer got my wife’s order wrong. She ordered the California avocado eggs Benedict with the bacon removed on the side, but he brought her the normal eggs Benedict with the ham removed. The order on the receipt shows that it was entered incorrectly. That wouldn’t be so bad except he then tried to say that the ham with the eggs was “Canadian bacon”, presumably to cover his mistake. We’re not stupid, we could plainly see that there was no avocado and that it was clearly ham, not Canadian bacon.
Even so, we were willing to let it go and just eat. But he never came back to check on us and disappeared for a while. When he finally reappeared it was to serve another table, so we flagged him down and asked for a box. When he brought it he just dropped it on the corner and left…didn’t hand it, didn’t place it, just dropped it. We were considering getting pie but we decided not to when the box was just unceremoniously dropped on our table. Our section was small and not busy, if it were then maybe we could excuse...
