Burrito Paradise — Restaurant in Darien

The other day my husband said he had never tried this place out living nearby for over 20 years. Well today I ventured in and I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the special of the day with two combo options meal with a chicken taco and an enchilada that came rice and beans and a drink. I could only eat the rice and beans and the enchilada. I took the taco home for tomorrows lunch and I ordered two tacos for my hubby's lunch tomorrow. They also had chips and salsa self serve. They were not bad. I enjoyed my first lunch there and I am sure I will be back. I may change my star rating after Randy has his lunch! It was a yummy meal so far! I have eaten here about four times now and it is tasty. Today I had the Taco Tuesday special $1.79 tacos. I ordered 4 to go and to to eat there. I could only finish one taco and had some of their self-serve chips and salsa. They are yummy and they changed out the box of chips ad the salsa when I was there. I am looking forward to having more Tacos for my lunch at home tomorrow! The chicken taco was tasty. They also have a Thursday night fajita special for eight dollars and some change. That is a good deal. I look forward to getting it for Thursday...

I usually don't have a problem writing negative reviews but I hate that I had a bad experience with my food from this place so I feel kinda bad with this one. I live nearby and always wanted to stop in. I finally did today and ordered the big burrito to go. I always get ground beef with my tacos or burritos and did so with this place. The first bite I took, I had to spit out at least 3 of those super tough veiny things. Not even sure what it is but I always notice it in less than quality beef. This is the worst I've ever experienced it. I was starving so I kept going. Every bite I had to spit out at least 3 of these things. I got about half way through before it finally grossed me out so much I had to stop. Luckily it was big and the rice and beans (which were delicious) finished me off.

The ground beef they use seemed very different even if you took out those chewy veins and I don't think I would have enjoyed it anyways. I'm not a picky eater at all so I would have been fine if it just didn't gross me out.

This place seems to have pretty good reviews and I know most people get chicken or steak with their burritos. So if that's the case for you then my review won't mean...

This restaurant has moved across the street and they call themselves the Crazy Burrito. My Mom and I ordered enchiladas and a Chimichanga for take out. My Chimichanga was soggy and rubbery with cheese that was congealed and slid off when I cut into it, my mom's enchiladas were not much better...i think they used mozzarella on Mexican food. After requesting a new meal by phone and agreeing to a meal replacement, they decided it was my fault for ordering improperly and wanted to charge me for replacement after driving back. At this point I decided it was not worth wasting another $9 on a poorly prepared meal. I can not believe that a restaurant in this competitive climate would not want to satisfy a customer. When I called the manager he stated that he deals with this "stuff" all the time. I asked him if he meant complaints....Long story short: He told me his sales were up and he didn't need my business and then proceeded to hang up on me. After living in Texas and enjoying authentic, delicious, Mexican cuisine for 8 years I like to think I know what is palatable. I would not recommend this...
