Darien Chop Suey — Restaurant in Darien

I'd like to preface this with the fact that I LOVE Chinese food. My son & I moved to this area in 2017 and we were loving all of the food we ordered from here - in fact for years we ordered from here at least 3 times a month. Everything we tried was fantastic, then COVID hit and they were closed for a bit. They finally reopened and we were ecstatic, shortly thereafter it seemed that they switched to new owners. We tried over 3 different times of ordering the same things we used to order and they were absolutely horrible - to the point that we actually threw the food out after trying it because it just didn't taste right. We used to highly recommend this place and now we avoid it which is unfortunate, but there is no reason to spend $40/$70+ on a meal that you wind up throwing away. We've started going back to Gong Ho on 75th Street/Lemont Road, however even this place as great as the food still is, seems to be skimping on portion size, especially with the rise in cost of all of their menu items. Still a much better option for Chinese food...

I love noodles. I have ordered every pan fried, steamed, chow fun, mei fun, lo mein from just about every Chinese place in the DG, westmont, Woodridge, Willowbrook, Darien area. The common denominator for most of the places is how they love dumping a ton of onions in the dish with some noodles, a little bit of meat and a scant amount of other veggies. I spend more time picking the creepy little (sometimes not so little) chunks of the filler out than actually eating my precious noodles. Darien Chop Suey gives me none of the little buggers! I always order the pad see eiw and not only are there piles of glorious noodles, but they never skimp on the meat or veggies! Beautiful broccoli and mushrooms and not an onion in sight! It's so yummy. The hubs loves the sesame chicken. The egg rolls are plump and the egg drop soup is divine. Super nice on the phone and we've ordered like a dozen times and it's always ready in twenty minutes or so. This is my favorite...

I use to love this place I was recently there and I ordered 2 pepper steak lunch specials. And they literally gave me all vegetables and about 3 or 4 pieces of meat, so I called them so they can fix it. And I asked for the shrimp, lo mein lunch special instead of the pepper steak because again it was all vegetables and it was tough meat i took pictures and showed it to the lady so they agreed to remake it so i go back days later and tell them i wanted the shrimp lo mein instead of the pepper steak Tell me why they gave me one shrimp. With one lunch special and gave me 4 shrimp with the other luch special I think they did that because they had to redo my food. But that's okay, I will not be...
