Went for lunch today because of all the great reviews and I am sad to say our experience was not good.
I’ll start with the positives. The ceviche mixto was very good, it tasted fresh with great textures and just the right amount of spice. Unfortunately, that was the only good thing we had.
The rest of the food was obviously pre cooked and what we got was reheated. The Guacamole was brown and the chips were cold and stale like the whole dish was sitting in the fridge for hours. We returned it and they brought out fresh chips and guacamole like it should have been the first time.
The pork belly BAO buns were over cooked and also stale. The anticucho BAO buns were the same. The arroz chaufa was reheated and served in a skillet for presentation, but you could taste and feel that it was not fresh. The fried chicken BAO buns were also obviously reheated and room temperature.
The worst part of the entire meal was the kasura roll which is a hodgepodge of flavors that didn’t really go together. Fusion is supposed to come together as a result of flavors that compliment and make each other better. This roll doesn’t do that.
The service was also bad as our waiter spent all of his time chatting with the bar tender instead of checking on his tables. Another waitress checked on us more than he did so I handed her the cash and tip when it was time to pay hoping she is able to keep the tip since she really did all the work.
If they would use freshly prepared food they would have made a fan and return customer today. Instead, I have to write an honest review about a...
Read moreMy wife and I have now visited Ataco twice and each time came away absolutely delighted with the food, service, and ambience. For starters, everything we've eaten was delicious. I'd recommend ordering a number of "small plates" to share - you'll have great variety across traditional Peruvian through Peru-Asian fusion. Everything's been excellent but a few highlights: Ceviche Divino, Anticuchero Tenderloin Bao, Croquetas de Pulpo, and Lomo Saltado. The cocktails are also delicious with our favorite being the Tijuana Mule. All of the servers are very friendly but a special nod to Paola and Diana who were both super attentive and friendly on both of our visits. We can't recommend Ataco highly enough if you're up for Peruvian in a relaxed and fun environment. We'll be...
Read moreThere is no way this place has 4.7 legit stars..I want business owners to thrive..I know there is a lot of competition and makes sense to do your best to stay on top, but if your restaurant aesthetic looks better then what the food would taste like, then that's bad. First, called and was on hold twice for 30 minutes to place an order for pick up. I'm thinking they just have to be that busy, so hung up and placed my order online. Wife and I get there and not even close to being busy. Strange no-one answerd the phone when i had called, but whatever. We get home and the tacos and ceviche was the worst we ever had..Very sad..Never going back again..I hope this post doesn't get erased..im pretty sure all those great 5 stars were manipulated which is...
