This is a wonderful sushi and Thai cuisine restaurant located in the Hobby Lobby plaza and is adjacent to University Drive in Davie. This is a medium sized restaurant and when we went on a Monday night for dinner, there were maybe five other parties, including a birthday party. We were seated promptly and greeted by the staff. We proceeded to place our order for drinks; my friend ordered a Sapporo beer while I ordered their Thai Tea. My drink was absolutely delicious and well made.
After getting our drinks we ordered two different appetizers. The first appetizer was the Curry Puff. This was six little Empanadas filled with ground chicken, potato, sweet potato, yellow curry, and was served with a sweet cucumber sauce. Very surprised by the good amount and how good they tasted. The second appetizer was the Kimono Shrimp. This was a shrimp and ground chicken wrapped in spring roll skin and served with sweet plum sauce. Also very delicious.
For our entrees I ordered the Gang Phed Ped Yang which is a crispy duck with Thai Style classic red curry sauce , pineapple, bell peppers, cashew nuts and basil. Duck is complete crispy and super delicious. This was also served with a side of white rice. The 3.5 star spice level I order was just right. 5 would've probably be too much. The second entrée was the Volcano Tiger Prawn. These were grilled giant shrimps with eggplant, snow peas, bell peppers, black sauce and basil leaves. These shrimps were huge and tasted like small lobsters. This dish was incredible.
Lastly, for dessert we closed it out with the Thai doughnuts. These fried dough doughnuts are topped with powdered sugar and served with condensed milk and nuts for dipping.
We thoroughly enjoyed our meals and I was very surprised at the affordable prices for such delicious quality food and gorgeous presentation of their dishes. Thus place is a definite must visit and if I lived or worked in the area, it would easily be a frequently...
Read moreMy first time trying this place. I went with my family, party of 6. We made reservations beforehand and we're seated at a round corner table half booth. Sushi is my favorite food and an I especially like trying new sushi places around town to see what their quality is. I have to say I was rather disappointed here.
The food: The salmon nigiri did not have any flavor, not the normal buttery moist consistency fresh salmon is supposed to have. We ordered several dishes including the drunken fried rice, a few sushi plates, and noodle dishes. They were all just ok. Not much flavor.
The service: The service here was VERY poor. We dined in on a Sunday evening around 6pm and the place started filling quickly after. However, it appears they did not have the correct staffing ratio or the staff was under trained to handle a full house. The wait time from when we first sat down for someone to greet us and take drink orders was at least 15 min. Then another 20 to get our waters and hot tea, I orerered a glass of wine. The time it took between ordering 2 appetizers and actually receiving them was around 30 min. All we ordered was a plate of gyoza and edemame which doesn't take much prep time. To top it off, the waiter got my order wrong after he actually read it back to us correctly. We ended up eating it anyway just because at that point we had waited around 45 min for our main dishes to come.
The only really ok dish here was the dessert. THAI DONUTS. But can't really mess those up.
I won't be returning here. Try Imasa Sushi or Sushi song for great quality sushi and...
