In short, don't book a halloween punk and metal show if you can't handle a halloween punk and metal show.
To begin, while Bundy and the Spins were playing they nearly kicked out a patron. The guy was getting in to the band and having fun during a punk performance. At one point he did a mini stage dive off of their stage which is only 1 foot off the ground. A bartender immediately came to talk to him. He did not stage dive again, but stayed a little rowdy. They then sent security out to stand and watch him. Overall, a less rowdy crowd than Bundy and the Spins typically sees.
After Bundy finished, some wrestling began and the headliner, Funeral Moon, began setting up. During this time, 3 members stepped out onto the patio to apply some fake blood. When they walked in, staff immediately approached them telling them they were "disrespectful" for the fake blood. A moment passes and the band members come back in and I can overhear "We're packing up, the show's cancelled."
I looked where the band had walked and there were all of 2 drops of fake blood on the ground. I commented as such to my friends. The bartender overheard this and insisted it was a huge mess outside. One of my friends asked why they're not kicking out everyone with fake blood on (as they were also wearing fake blood). The staff told us "This doesn't concern you I don't know why you even care." A moment later security comes and tells us we need to leave.
As I'm waiting to cash out, I first hear another patron comment that he thought the bar was making a big mistake. The bartender responded with "Well a lot of mistakes have been made tonight." A chant of "FUNERAL MOON" broke up from a solid 60-70% of the bar patrons as they were the headlining band and had been promoting the show relentlessly for the past month. When I was finally up to pay, the bartender stated "I'll just assume no tip" and skipped the tip screen on their payment terminal, to which I apologized. The bartender then claimed "My tip will be staying up until 3am cleaning fake blood." To which I responded, its water soluble, pour water on it. Ignoring the fact that they're scheduled to be open until 2:30 am on Saturday anyway and likely would have had paying customers the whole time. Instead, they were kicking out more than half the bar at 11:30pm on the Saturday before Halloween.
As I stepped out they poured their second bucket of warm soapy water on the concrete patio and it was nearly clean already. My friends and I stood on the sidewalk, off their property, waiting for everyone to gather. As we did we saw them pour one more bucket of water, wipe one spot on the ground, and finish cleaning. In this time security stated if we did not leave they would call the cops. As soon as everyone was together, we left. We found out later they DID call the cops.
To top it off, they have removed multiple negative comments on the event page and blocked at least one person who has left them. Not a good look.
I'm curious if Yellow Cab knew anything of the bands they were booking. Funeral Moon routinely either pours fake blood on stage, spits fake blood, or smashes beer cans open on their foreheads. I can't imagine how they'd have reacted if they'd done that during their performance.
I will not be returning. I will not be recommending this venue to anyone for any reason. I imagine that will be the...
Read moreLOVE THE SILENT DISCO! my friends and i never miss silent disco! we have so much fun deciding our outfits/costumes to fit the new theme each month. The bar line is long but it moves quick and the bartenders are so sweet, easy to talk to, and knowledgeable; I ask for recommendations pretty much every time I’m there and I’m never disappointed with what they recommend. Their house cocktails are definitely a must; catchy names, VERY strong, and full of flavor! Drinks are reasonably priced and well worth your money, they’re so good, not watered down or flooded with mixer. Although i haven’t had their pizzas, my friends love and order it every time. They have several employees for security, walking about the crowd, keeping an eye out, and they’re really nice, interacting with the crowd and having fun which i really like because i feel safe there and i’n comfortable approaching them and...
Read moreI went with a few friends to see a band there. They have great beer on tap, and a food truck parked just outside. The beer was around 5-6 per premium beer. I believe options like Miller high Life were priced at around $3. I don't know if they have specials, happy hour, etc. There were 3 bands playing, and the cover was$10. I didn't stay the entire night, but the bands I heard were quite good, and the in-house sound engineer did a great job with the mix. I would say it's not super loud, but the levels were just below rock venue volume levels. Might still be too long for some, but perfect for the style of music. They have added some sound dampening, which I'm sure is effective, but I think they could also do a little more to dampen the room, because it is an old taxi garage that has been converted, so it's all steel and concrete. Overall, it's a great place, well conceived, and...
