My family and I were staying at The Hammock’s Beach and Golf Resort in Palm Coast Florida for a wedding. We had a free day on Saturday May 21st so we decided to celebrate our son’s girlfriend’s birthday a little early. We looked for an Italian restaurant close by but everyone was booked. I went to OpenTable and found this restaurant Little Italy with availability so I made reservation. It was 50 minutes South of where we were but the reviews were good and we could visit Daytona while there so off we went. Upon arrival our party of 8 was greeted by host and was promptly sat at our reserved table. We got out menus, drinks, bread for table, appetizers, apprised of the evening’s specials and then placed our order. The restaurant was busy but everyone was having a wonderful time. The owner, Mario, came over and introduced himself and asked how everything was. We chatted for a few minutes and he was most appreciative that we traveled 50 minutes to come to his restaurant. He asked if we were celebrating anything and we told him we were there celebrating a birthday. The food came out and everything was amazing, fresh and flavorful!! Mario kept checking to make sure we were happy with everything. I had brought in a birthday cake and candles to sing happy birthday to the birthday girl. We proceeded to sing and wish her a happy birthday. Unbeknown to us Mario had put together a beautiful dessert tray beautifully displayed on a wooden board. It had some of the best homemade bread pudding, cannoli’s and tiramisu I’ve ever eaten!! Not only did he do that but the entire staff came out and sang happy birthday. We also met his mother who made the delicious desserts. Can’t say how much over the top our experience at Little Italy was!! Just go there and experience it for yourself. You won’t be disappointed!! Thanks again Mario and staff for a memorable evening and most delicious food!! We’ll definitely be back!! Your...
Read moreMade a large order over the phone for pizzas for a birthday party. I got the total, told the girl when I would be coming to pick them up. I paid for them over the phone and I go to pick them up at the specified time. No pizzas. I was told there must’ve been some sort of mix up. I said okay well how long, I have people waiting at the party for food. I was told that they didn’t have enough dough on hand to make my order because they were running out. I was pissed to say the least. The manager finds my order and says she was going to cancel the charge. The next day, the charge still showed in my bank and the girl who took my order decided she was going to add on a $10 tip for herself. I call back to tell them the situation and to get my refund. They argue with me that the charge was cancelled even though I’m telling them its showing in my bank account. A couple days later, charge still there, manager still refused to refund, saying they already did. I ended up having to dispute the charge with my bank. Absolute crooks these people.
And the owner has come on here and replied that I have the wrong restaurant and they never run out of dough?? I definitely have the name of the restaurant and the location correct. This is Little Italy’s Ristorante on Beech Street right next to the art gallery. The managers name is Mario. Yes I have the right business. I have been there at least three times and they have been out of dough so that is completely untrue. This is absolutely the correct restaurant. They couldn’t even get my order in then, I highly doubt they could locate it now. This place is so out of touch with...
Read moreLike a lot of restaurants that come and go in Daytona Beach, Little Italy's food and drink are overpriced for the area. This usually means a short life span for a restaurant around here. One might give it a pass if the food made up for the prices, but at best it's mediocre. If you have a hankering for lasagne but your meat eating habits stop short of baby cows, then forget the lasagne because it's made with veal. They claim to have a happy hour between 2-6, but only at the bar or on the patio, so good luck with that if it's raining because the bar is very small. One might wonder why it's limited to those locations, but if you come expecting happy hour you'll know that it's on offer begrudgingly. We went before 6 hoping to take advantage of happy hour, but the waiter couldn't tell us what drinks consisted of happy hour. So, in not wanting to make a fuss about it, we wrongly assumed happy hour drinks would include plain spirit drinks as they are anywhere else. When we got our bill and saw that 4 drinks cost an eye popping $52, we asked the manager about happy hour prices, but he said spirits weren't included. We mentioned that it would be great if the wait staff knew that, but he didn't seem interested. If we had known about the so called happy hour prices, we could have stopped at the airport first to get a cheaper drink. Let's hope Little Italy will come down to earth and work on their customer relations, so they don't go the way of many of their former Beach...
