Went here on 11/13/22 @9pm. Love this place. Will be back. They have very reasonable prices and we just wanted to grab a late night snack. We had the loaded potato soup and some appetizers. All very good. Perfect valence of bacon, Cher Amy soup, lots of potato’s. I forgot to take pics of the food which means I need to come back and get some food and take pics and update my review Staff is very professional and hard working. Inside is clean. Love the look and feel of this place. Bartender took our order right away, food was out in 5 minutes which is good, considering it was pretty full. Located next to St No wet College si u get college folk in there but demographically lotta young and old there. For apps, breaded mushrooms and sweet potato fries!!! Yum! . Apps along with the soup, all hot and fresh. On a cold night it really hit the spot. I am thinking when the pack play this Thea night I may have to just drop in to check out some of the game but order something small- and yes- take some pics- They have pizza on the menu and I saw one come up- it looked really good! All good food- hot and fresh and I ate way too much. Good company with my friend. Took in a play at St Norbert, not too loud so we didn’t have to yell over the crowd or a band. Just a cool place u just never will find anywhere else but in De Pere WI . If u like the sweet potato fries, if all u do is stop in for a quick beverage- get the sweet potato fries. Lots of neat stuff on the walls. Pool table off to the side. Plenty of seating at the bar or tables. Great place. Highly recommends. I didn’t do a review last year. I had these burger sliders- they were amazing, and they were on special. So yes- they do drink specials and also food specials. Until the next review Steve-O, out Ps Cool place. 10 stars outtta 10. I saw some negative reviews and I saw people having fun and laughing and talking. Some guys in the back shooting pool. I don’t know what ppl’s problems are. Business are all short handed. Especially local ones. They can’t compete for wages with a big box place. And that brings me to another point, don’t be cheap. U go out- TIP. They rely on it. They only get 3.50 in the state of WI to a stress or serve. And maybe they don’t have a car to get some place so they walk from the college to serve- give back. If u can’t tip, shame on u. Some get 3 beverages and two appetizers, cut back on the food or drinks. Ppl are having tuff times with rising costs and just getting by. My kids both serves thru college. Eating in a table of 6 for 3 hours and they get 3 bucks. Wow.. Take a pill. Come back again and then give a honest review. U put a negative review out there it hurts the people that own is as u complain about a straw that fell on the floor. Great vibe- get out and support local. U can go to Chi. HI’s any day of the week or TX roadhouse. This is way better.

It’s Friday night in Wisconsin so time for a fish fry! The fish and chips dinner is Alaskan Pike with a really nice thin, yet crispy beer batter. The batter was really well seasoned and had a little spice to it. The first filet was well cooked and flaky. The second filet was water logged and extremely tough, not to mention only half of the battered portion had fish in it. The baked cod was over cooked and watery. Despite it looking like it was seasoned, it tasted like nothing. It says it’s 8oz to an order, which we have recently been weighing food at home and it seemed like a very small portion. They have a variety of potato options and I chose the sour cream and chives fries. Those were good. They reminded me of the restaurant Saz’s (if anyone remembers their sour cream and chives fries 🤤) could have used a tad more seasoning but still good. If anyone likes fried cheeses in several different ways, this is a basket for you. There were cheese curds, mozzarella sticks, fried cheeses raviolis and like a cheese tater tot thing. This was so Wisconsin and so delicious. Our server, Ali, was very attentive and extremely sweet. Overall, we wouldn’t come back here for a fish fry. It seems like a good drinks and appetizer place though. Follow us on Instagram and Facebook @gbdiningdykes for more food reviews

I came here with my daughter for dinner, and was really disappointed in the food. I ordered the French Dip with fries, and was served a single slab of “beef” that was reminiscent of road kill that had been left to rot in the Florida sun for several days in the middle of August. The bread was weird. A bit burned on top, but pretty obvious it was old. Our server was kind and apologetic. She took the meal off the bill, and asked if I’d like to try something else. I went with the boneless wings. Wrong again. The sauce wasn’t bad, but the texture of the chicken was…interesting. Part of the meat would be really soft and squishy, and almost airy, like it was whipped “chicken,” and then I’d get a bite of something hard and rubbery. I forced myself to eat 3 of the 10 boneless wings, and gave up. My daughter tried one and couldn’t get past the first bite. I was painfully hungry when I ordered my food (literally—I skipped breakfast and barely touched my lunch), and left hangry. My hunger pangs weren’t enough to make me want to eat my food. Given the opportunity to eat here again, I’d rather go hungry.

We had plans to check out the Abbey for dinner, because we were staying at the hotel next door. But I read some of the reviews for this place and to be honest we became apprehensive. We thought we are here, why not check it out anyways.

First, if you were looking for a 5 star restaurant on a beer budget to satisfy you and want to review it as such, this is not your place. This is your nostalgic type tavern that serves food. TVs and pictures surround you. The tables reflecting the use of the good old days before franchised sports bars dotted the landscape. This is a great place to have an experience and enjoy the company of the person or people you are with. The folks serving us were nice, the food and the beer was good. My spouse had chicken wings and I had a burger and fries. We received what we expected. It wasn't less than what we expected. I don't think this place advertises itself to put your expectations on the moon.

We are both excellent cooks and we could probably make complaints about something anywhere we go across a huge range of ethnic/variety food types. But we both thought we could not really rate this place because it's unique and it is what it says it is. Contrary to some of the bad reviews, these are the kind places we are surprised by and enjoy running across. We like taking notice of the people and seeing the neat things about it, instead of seeing the things we can run down. There are not a lot of places like this type still around. They are becoming a part of history. I love the name of the place, the simple tavern food menu, and I believe it's second generation family owned. I am glad I was able to share this experience with my spouse. They don't promise you magic and there is no magic out there anyways. Probably an odd long review but wanted to take the time to let the owner know we appreciated the experience. I am sure keeping a place like this going in this day and age is not easy and it is good to encourage one another when it's due. Thank you!

P.S. if you are wondering if you should check this place out we did too, but we were...

We were looking for a place to eat after leaving the Packers game. Since we are from California we wanted to find a place to eat that we don't have at home. We found The Abbey & were sold when we saw the front sign saying "Mac & Cheese burger". The server told us to sit anywhere so we chose to sit in the dining area since it was quiet. There was four of us in our group. We ordered: Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, 7up & a water. For food we ordered: 3 chili's, extreme nacho's, big cheese basket, buffalo pizza (no onions) & 3 mac & cheese burgers. Our server took 10 minutes to get our drinks & also told us 3 times that she would get our chili. 35 minutes in, we finally got our chili along with the nachos and cheese basket. The chili & cheese basket were very good. In fact, we would have ordered another bowl of the chili. The nachos weren't anything special. Who puts lettuce on nachos? While eating our appetizers the server came back & told us there wasn't any more mac & cheese. So 3 of us had to reorder. We ordered 2 bacon cheeseburgers & a texas burger. About 15 minutes later we received our meals. The buffalo pizza looked extremely dry & was caked with onions. The bacon on all 3 burgers were burnt to a crisp, the bread on the texas burger was rock solid, and the fries were burnt which seemed to be because of old oil. The server offered to remake the pizza. Over all the food was a train wreck. For a restaurant that has been around for over 44 years, you still have some major work to do. Why would you only have one server on a Packers night? She was beyond overwhelmed and the service suffered because of it. Your food, excluding the chili, isn't very good. Your cooks need to be retrained. I have been in the food & service industry for over 23 years and understand bad nights. This wasn't one of them. This is a lack of understanding the business. My advice to you is just be a bar. Have 1 or 2 burgers, some fried appetizers and that chili. Anything more and you are just...
