Lum's Chop Suey — Restaurant in Dearborn Heights

We had an office holiday party planned for 12/10 and wanted food for about 30 people. We called Lum's Chop Suey a week in advance to confirm if they could handle the catering. They said yes, which seemed promising.

However, when we called the restaurant on Monday (the day before the event) to double-check if our order would be ready, we were met with utter unprofessionalism. The person on the phone told us they don’t take early orders and that catering is only done same-day. Despite our requests to at least secure the order in advance, we were flatly told "no" before the person hung up abruptly.

Following their instructions, we began calling on Tuesday (the day of the party) starting at 10:50 AM, trying repeatedly until 11:15 AM. Every call went straight to voicemail. Frustrated, we checked Google Maps only to discover they were CLOSED on Tuesdays!

Crab ragoon bursting with flavor, and yes you can actually taste crab. Egg rolls a bit on the smaller size, but don't let that fool you. Perfectly cooked to crispy perfection and an even blend of ingredients. Food was quite good. General chicken is not general tso chicken that's what I kind of thought. Don't even think it. It stands alone, I liked it, medium spice wasn't too crazy at all but after forkful after forkful you do feel it. Haha good baseline to start if you aren't sure. Sweet n sour check was good too , their sauce was a bit different, had more like a marmalade consistency. Still tastes good tho. Portion sizes were excellent, great bang for your buck. The only discrepancy I really had, and it's purely opinionated and has no reflection on their food or service; too me the chicken pieces were just in the smaller size(popcorn chicken size). Been a few years getting my all time favorite ABC it's Almond Boneless 🐔 Chicken 😋. The mega stuffed container with about three Chicken Breasts deep fried crispy Love 💯😋. Mega portion of Fried Rice, Egg Roll and marvelous sauce to smother da Chicken 😋 OMG. I ate two full meals, outstanding Delicious Wowed on the cheap. So Happy to see Stephanie and husband doing great, wish the dining room would reopen. Maybe not in my lifetime, Please at least let the customers come inside to order and pickup.
