This is after I visited this place twice.
My reviews always mention goods, and then bads, but there was nothing good to say about this place which is sad given that I am a big fan of middle Eastern food.
Bads: The rice was one of the worst, ZERO taste, not even a bit of salt used in it. It had a lot of fake color alright, from synthetic food coloring , but no spice or salt or taste whatsoever.
And guess what else the rice included to compensate it's lack of taste? corn! and vermicelli, neither of which adds anything to taste. That was the first time I saw corn in a middle Eastern rice dish, a sign of how cheap this place is.
I ordered the lamb Qoozi hoping to see some flavors, it came with lamb shank instead! Why don't they just call it what is, lamb shank in the menu?
Qoozi meat should be from more tender cuts of meat and this was not even a good quality shank, rather a very tasteless tough lamb shank probably from a very old sheep.
When I complained to the manager about the rice and lamb having no taste, instead of telling the truth which would have been "we are too cheap to use any spice and we think customers are stupid, so we just add food coloring to fool their eyes", she gave me the lame answer of "if we add too much spice, our customers won't like hot food"!
I told her, first of all I am not talking about hot spices, like chili or jalapeno, I am talking about flavorful spices like cardamom, coriander, cinnamon, turmeric, etc. or at least some salt. and secondly how do you talk about worrying about too much spices, when this dish has absolute ZERO of spices?
At that point she left with no answer!
They also overcharged me for some extra skewer of Iraqi kabab, 3-4 times more than what the server had told me initially.
And on top of that, their total was still inflated by like $6-$7, and took me a lot of persistence to make them correct their mistake!
And two young customers next to my table were just vaping without receiving any warning from the staff. Not good!
Overall, this restaurant looks nice but their food has ZERO taste. Even that "complimentary" small bowl of stew that comes with Qoozi had no flavor, and for the least could use some dried...
Read moreSupport this business. Food is great, establishment is clean and nice, and majority of the employees are kind. Everyone will have a different experience. This was mine:
I ordered a food tray for 5 today that came with a variety of grilled meat, shawarma, and skewers of meat and chicken over a bed of rice. The tray was very large and there was more food than for 5 people. The portions are great and they come with a salad and with three containers of stew depending on what you prefer. We got white bean and it was delicious.
The establishment is very clean and most of the employees are kind. They just moved to this location and business looks like it was been doing well compared to the other businesses that have opened up and closed in this location.
When I came in to pickup my order today, I came with a little over $50 and enough to cover tax. I found the menu online(attached below) and to the right column, third row..it says 49.99. I wasn’t told the price when I called and ordered. I just assumed the prices didn’t change. I didn’t mind either way.
What bothered me is when I came in and had my cash ready in my hand, and they told me the price was a little over $60, I was a little puzzled and somewhat anxious because I needed to pull my card out. I asked the women with the black hair at the register if I can do $60 in cash and the approximate $4 bucks on my card. She scrawled and gestured in a rude way when I was just being kind..she left the register and called someone else over to ring me out and I was just confused. I didn’t do anything besides ask if I can make a split payment since the menu price was wrong. The second women was wearing a hijab and she was nice and normal, transacted it instantly without a problem.
Nevertheless, I will continue to support this business despite being off-put by the incident. I hope they can train some of the staff better. There’s no need for being unkind. I always respect people and treat them with kindness and full empathy.
I left the same...
Read moreArbeel Kabob is an Iraqi restaurant that also serves Mediterranean food and is an excellent place for any meal and any occasion! The meal we had last night was fit for a Sultan! They give very generous portions here. The service from the very nice lady server was so friendly that we felt like we were at a friends house. We ordered appetizers and also ordered the family platter for 2. If you order this, you get to try a variety of what they offer and it’s enough for 4 people! It’s the best! We started off with a very creamy lentil soup that was very comforting. We then had the best hummus I ever ate in my life! It was soft, smooth and was really addictive. We couldn’t stop eating it. We then had the falafels which were shaped a little differently than most places but they were served hot and tasted very good. We moved on to the salad which was refreshing with the dressing of olive oil, spices and fresh squeezed lemon. The huge warm breads are made in house to accompany your meal. The meat platter was show stopper stunning and every meat item we ate was flavorful and melted in our mouths! We also received a bowl of vegetable stew to eat with the rice. I think anything you order here is going to be delicious. To top it off the hot tea and sweets at the end really finished out a very nice evening here. My favorites from this meal was everything, but if I had to pick then it would be the hummus, boneless carved chicken and the lamb and chicken kabobs. Beautiful place, people and of course the...
