This bakery NEVER has anything that is not consistent or fresh. Please kindly disregard the unjustified negative or āone starā reviews as Iāve just had a good laugh over how people write reviews when theyāre āhaving a bad dayā or are ridiculously unaware at how entitled they seem to think they are. Having a wedding and placing an order for a wedding cake just 2 months in advance when your wedding is on a HOLIDAY WEEKEND?!? Well, that is no ones fault but your own lol. I donāt think I need to elaborate over the certain group of entitled, spoiled reviewers that have popped up here. The complaints coming from this certain group are not surprising to those that live in the neighborhood (as complaints are unsurprising with them), so I was compelled to write my OWN review of this legendary spot as a retort(e). I was in the store recently and witnessed a woman from a particular ethnic group ordering a few items and she was an absolute misery to witness. She was rude and miserable to the very lovely Iversenās employee and I was disgusted. How certain people can treat others is sickening ESPECIALLY when they are providing a service/product for YOU and are NICE on top of it. End rant as Iām sure I donāt need to provide further details on this as locals are aware of this occurrence...
Iversenās buttercream icing is the best Iāve come across-try the cupcakes: Oreo, toasted almond, pistachio, pineapple, strawberry crunch-think Good Humor ice cream bar coating!, caramel, coconut, rainbow sprinkle, chocolate buttercream, key lime, red velvet, banana, and MORE. Cake is fluffy and moist, frosting (also fluffy, not overly sweet) made from butter/sugar and NOT lard (gross), marshmallow (NOPE!), or whipped topping (embarrassing). Iāve yet to experience a better cupcake. The toasted almond cupcake is a favorite in my house: yellow, fluffy cake base, fluffy, lightly sweet buttercream icing, topped with a Good Humor toasted almond ice cream bar type coating. RIDICULOUS!!! (They donāt always have the same daily cupcake selection, so call ahead!)
Also, try their sugar cookies frosted with a thick layer of buttercream icing. These are for the sweet tooth and every party Iāve brought a box to weāre quickly wiped out. They are typically decorated in childlike colors/designs, but Iāve taken a box of yellow smiley face cookies to a dinner party of adults and they were an absolute hit. Iām sure if you requested a different design/colors theyād accommodate you according to the event.
The Christmas cookie sampler is LEGENDARY. Inquire for this beautifully boxed gift around the holidays. My family has been gifting/receiving the small boxes of these decadent cookies for YEARS. Think ALL real butter, REAL milk chocolate and the best ingredients! For example: Palmiers (French buttery, flaky, crunchy, sugary pastry) dipped in milk chocolate, buttery shortbread dipped in white or milk chocolate, butter cookies topped with walnuts and thick milk chocolate, delicious peanut brittle squares, butter spritz cookies very generously coated in either milk, dark, or white chocolate and either topped with a cherry, walnut, or dusting of sugar-this gift is sure to have your recipient begging for another the next year! Be aware, though, as this box is a clear, circular plastic box with a double layer of cookies with approximately 2 dozen mini bite sized cookies drenched in thick coatings of DELICIOUS homemade chocolate, so the cost is a bit more than your average box of holiday cookies. I believe they are approximately $15-20 a box, but WELL worth it. My family would get a box after Christmas dinner from our host and they barely made it out alive on the car ride home lol! They are THAT delicious. You can also purchase their classic white buttercream in tubs to take home and decorate your own cakes and cookies! Staff are very friendly, place is spotless. I wrote a lengthy review because this is the ONLY spot I waste my calories on and treat myself. My hard earned exercise points are spent here LOL. I hope this bakery...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUp there with the best bakeries I've ever patronized in life. Iversen's is the real deal. Everything from the cakes down to the littlest bits of filling in their cupcakes are homemade and very high quality. All very delicious and fresh. That being said, be prepared to drop a little chunk of change here. Their pre-arranged Christmas cookie assortment boxes are to die for. They're only offered during the Christmas holiday so if you love them you need to buy when you see them because they may be sold out if you come back for them the next day. The cookies are tiny - think 1-2 bites per cookie and you get a couple dozen give or take. They're $40 a box. Ouch! But they're probably hands down one of my favorite bakery Christmas cookie assortment boxes I've ever tasted. I have given a few out as gifts when they have them and everyone raves about them. The cupcakes are amazing and there's always at least 10+ different flavors that rotate daily. The frosting is all buttercream and very rich. It's not your average overly sweet grocery store bakery frosting. Not even close! Once you've had an Iversen's cupcake it will be difficult to have a cupcake from anywhere else lol. They keep them refrigerated, but I think they taste best when at room temperature so the frosting can soften. A 1/2 dozen cupcakes will run you about $21 and change. If money was no object I'd be here once a week for treats, but it's probably better for my waistline! THEY NEED TO BRING BACK THEIR...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI contemplated posting this review but after my husband said the service he received was horrible and the employee was very rude to him during the entire encounter, I knew that I had to. If it was me during the interaction I would left all the goods I was going to purchase and exited the establishment. My husband doesnāt like confrontation and knew I wanted to try them, he just purchased it anyways.
I was really excited to try Iversenās after a friend told me about it and especially because they are local to me in Dearborn. So after spending $36 on subpar/ mediocre cupcakes and cookies you can see why Iām disappointed. We tried the Oreo cookie, it was terrible. It had way TOO much frosting and the cookie wasnāt soft, it was hard and crunchy like it had been sitting out too long. We tried the bumpy cake cupcake, carrot cake, red velvet and there was another cupcake, I canāt remember the name. But after trying a piece of all the above and again there was way too much frosting on all of them and the cupcakes themselves were dry and had no flavor, we threw them all way. Yes, you read that correctly, I threw all those cupcakes away after my family and I tried them and vetoed them all.
The only things that were any good were the oatmeal raisin cookie, Nutella cookie, and the chocolate chip cookie. Okay I will also say the red velvet cupcake was actually decent. In my opinion between the terrible customer service and the mediocre treats, donāt waste your...
