Mmm, delicious pizza. I was skeptical when I first looked at the pizza that was delivered. I have had my share of limp, flavorless pizzas in and around Dearborn, and our onion/black olive/pepperoni pizza did not look especially good. The crust wasn't full of big crispy bubbles like my favorite Detroit-style pizza, the cheese wasn't browned the way some of my favorite places do it.
But the first bite won me over. The bottom of the crust was crispy without being hard. The crust generally tasted great and had very good texture. The cheese was better than I expected, with good flavor, and was not gluey the way that cheap mozzarella is. The sauce was bursting with flavor, some of the best I've had in a while. It was a 4.5/5 kinda pizza.
The antipasto salad wasn't very impressive, I admit. The inclusion of American cheese was not especially desired (I like shredded mozzarella, myself), and the lettuce included some inner parts that aren't good as anything but roughage. The tomatoes were better than I expected. The Niki's-style Greek dressing wasn't especially notable, but it was a little heavy on the vegetable oil and too light on the vinegar for my tastes. It was a 2.5/5 sort of salad, but I didn't feel cheated due to the comparatively low price.
Also, they carry exclusively Faygo products. That's awesome in my book.
My rating is based on Google's star equivalence. Five stars isn't perfect, it's "you loved it." And we certainly loved the pizza. I will probably not order another salad, but we will definitely get pizza again from here.
Really, though, I'd rate it four stars if not for the fact that the rating is being dragged down by sham reviews. The two one-star reviews here are from competitors - Tiny T's marketing for "Pizza Kitchen" nakedly so, "don't eat here"'s textless review fairly obviously as well. I'll make sure never to order from Pizza Kitchen. I don't care if all the mom-and-pop pizza shops in Dearborn are locked in a desperate struggle for survival, posting fake negative reviews is just dirty and unhelpful. Almost Jake's two-star review is clearly real, but check his post history - he hates almost everything except chain Italian...
Read moreDon't put too much into the atmosphere rating. It's a very small building literally the size of a Fourier. At least where the customers stand. But what they lack for in size the service from the people helps make up for that. It's been a family-owned pizza business for as long as I have known and I am 39 years old and I've eaten there my entire life and it's always the same high quality product. They is the best quality cheese and the highest quality pepperonis dough it's a very consistent good product but the grease cut pepperonis. It's excellent Little pressy but it's better than any other pizza around and I have no problem paying a little more for something better that supports a small a small business that directly correlates to taking care of a family. As opposed to taking care of a corporate CEO and they're bored and stakeholders. The most important part in the backbone of our economy is the small business this country is driven on small businesses and big business working symbiotically together not big business using their power and might to smash the little guy out of the way therefore taking money in making middle class families poor basically families of no worth or value to give back to society. That is not America and that is not what Americans want. Americans want to be involved in society they want to make society better they want to help their fellow man and their neighbor and their family. They're not worried about shareholders their shareholders are their children their brothers their sisters their aunts their neighbors. That's what this business and bodies Pizza King has been around for a decades because they are family-owned business that works hard and provides an excellent product to the community around it providing jobs for people there and helping better the lives of the ownership and...
Read more10/12/24 @ 11:30pm The worst customer service, very rude & disrespectful. I’m extremely disappointed 0 out of 5 stars
I called tonight at 11:30pm to place an order for delivery. Whoever that guy is that answered the phone says “we close in 10 minutes do you want something or not “ with the nastiest tone & attitude. (they say they are open till midnight on weekends) So I asked, is it too late to place a carry out order… He replied “dude are you ordering something or not? What do you want? with the most disgusting attitude I have ever heard a restaurant establishment give a customer
I politely told the guy excuse me, that was really rude. He replied “you know what forget it! you can’t get nothing and hung up on me” I have been ordering from here for over 15 years plus, I will never go back! Unfortunately this is so sad because I love this place & this is the only pizza my kids eat 😞💔 if that’s how you guys treat your...
