Bob Evans — Restaurant in Decatur

This time around I ordered a Build Your Own Omelet with hash browns and Banana Nut Bread. In the omelet I asked for diced tomatoes, cheddar cheese, green onions and avocado. First, there was hardly any cheese to keep the omelet together. Second, the avocado was brown and there were only 6 small cubes within the omelet. There were plenty of diced tomatoes and green onions which was nice but since there was nothing binding them to the omelet I had to use a spoon to eat them. Third, the hash browns were over cooked and hard to eat. Lastly, although their Banana bread is good it was served to me very cold as if they just took it out of the refrigerator. All the other times I have ordered it is has been served nice and piping hot so the butter melts into the bread.

Based on a dine-in experience mid afternoon: It wasn’t busy at all, we were greeted and we were sat down immediately. A young lady took our drink orders and came night back—quick. A friend in my group ordered the sweet cream cold brew—way too much cream for this standard. The meal: Everyone ordered and the delicious food came to the table—my friend’s food had a hair in it. The plate was taken away to be remade, but it was brought back by the manager as a replate not remade. His pancakes were undercooked and tasted raw. Our waitress left for the day and no one said a thing to us—the replacement waitress came by twice and then disappeared. We have been going into Bob Evans off and on for the past 5 yrs and we really like the food that's why we come back but the service is so terribly bad we recognize the same manager that has been there for at least a few years and have tried to talk to her about nicely but she just doesn't care they have seated us and forgotten about us more times then I can count we have waited anywhere from 25 min to 45 min before they figured out who our waitress was and if you do get food don't even think they will be back to check on you or refill your drink it just ain't gonna happen I have to say there has been a few very rare occasions when the service was decent we eat out 1 to 2 times a week and cracker barrel gets most of our business even though we wish we could depend on Bob...
