Chai Peking has been an Atlanta Kosher fixture for over 20 years and I am happy to say it is as good as ever. While my family and I have ordered many, many times in those 20+ years I thought it was time for me to write a review. First and foremost I am a very fussy Chineese food afficionado as it is one of my favorite types of food. Being a BalTeshuva I have tasted many treif versions in my youth. So you can imagine I'm a tougher critic than most FFB reviewers. Fortunately I can happily say that most every dish we've had has been extremely good. My family is allergic to garlic so we always ask them to remove it. I can't imagine how much better it would be with it since it is really good w/o. Over the years the food has been very consistent. It always tastes the same which is a good thing. My only gripe food wise is the fried rice. I find it very bland and boring. We were in a restaurant in Florida recently and I was reminded how amazing good fried rice can be. I wish they would work to improve it. Oddly my family seems to enjoy it, but maybe because they never had better. The main dishes however are really delicious and compete well with other restaurants Kosher and non Kosher from what I recall all those years ago. Almost everyone I know in the community really enjoys Chai Pekings food, never heard anyone complain about it. It is also nice they have a fairly large menu unlike some places I have been. Another minus though is that it is take out only and while you can eat if one of a few small tables is available at the Kroger it is hosted in, I long for the wonderful atmosphere a true Chinese restaurant can offer. However despite that I am enormously grateful just to have the opportunity to enjoy the wonderful food. My familys favorites are Sweat and Sour Chicken, Beef and Chicken Lomein, Sesame Chicken, Egg Rolls, Wonton Soup, Dumplings, and my all time favorite Chicken with Cashews which is better at Chai Peking than any other place I have ever had it at. If I could afford it, I would eat there every day. The wait time is another area that could be improved. It is sometimes accurate to the given wait forecast but on busier days can easily be double which can be 45-60 minutes or more. I know this can be challenging for any busy place but I just wish they could get a better handle on it consistently. Another less frequent but still annoying occurence has been driving home to find out they forgot to add the Cashews to my dish. We live too far away to drive back and complain which is frustrating. It has happened a number of times in the last year or two so I recommend everyone to check your order carefully before leaving. So while I have mentioned several negatives I cannot stress enough how much the positives out weigh the negatives. I love love love Chai Peking and hope...
Read moreI have been taking food out from Chai Peking for many years. It’s always been good and very dependable, In that regard.
my recent visit, though was extraordinary. I picked up the food around 1:30 in the afternoon, on Friday for Shabbos, and we ended up eating around 530 later that day, and actually ate it at room temperature . It was excellent best I’ve ever had.
the vegetables were crisp, the meat was properly cooked. Everything was just perfect.
Some of the items We ordered: the egg-rolls with meat in them, They were delicious. The dumplings were delicious. The general chow’s chicken was beyond good, the breading was light, chicken was moist, and the sauce was appropriately spicy. We also ordered a new dish, for us, Mongolian beef, that is now a staple of our dinners. The house special fried rice was extraordinary even the white rice, which is my favorite was moist and properly cooked. The new containers are also great, no food leaks in the bags when Carrying food home. Everything was just so delicious and well prepared. You can tell that management cares about what they’re putting out. It’s definitely the best, kosher take-out in Atlanta and possibly in the entire south! Also, dollar for dollar it’s a great value, the portions are excellent and the protein in the dishes is in good proportion. The food was ready when promised and service was excellent! Way to go Chai Peking! Thanks
The only thing more amazing than delicious carefully seasoned properly prepared, for takeout food, is the chef, mordechai Snyder! Pick the food up on time, Early Friday afternoon Morning Very
. Ate it for dinner Friday evening at room temperature it was so delicious. Portions were generous, plenty of meet in those dishes, vegetables were crispy and beautifully Cut. Had the most excellent Chinese food for Shabbos, more on Sunday and just finished the egg drop soup with meat dumplings in them and every dumpling had a big piece of chicken in it. So much care goes into everything. I just returned from LA where I had Chinese Food on W. Pico Ave. does not even hold a candle to our Chai Peking! Every dish I had was just extraordinary thank you,...
Read moreI tried this restaurant a week ago and was so ecstatic to finally find a delicious gluten friendly Chinese restaurant. The food was really tasty. So, I decided to go back. However, my experience this time around has not been as good. It almost feels as though I ordered from a completely different restaurant. My soup is too gelatinous and inedible and my meat dish is soggy and lacking flavor. Not sure what happened, or what caused such a stark change in consistency, but it feels disappointing since I traveled far for this food.
No judgement to the owner or staff. Everyone seems very kind. Just disappointed after spending $30 for food I...
