After being turned away a couple of weeks ago on a Friday because we didn’t make a reservation, we reserved a table this time. Don’t forget to reserve #1.
We started with a pitcher of red sangria- very smooth even if a bit sweeter than my preference but at 30$ for four glasses, not a bad start. A cheese platter with more items and amount than we expected - a trend with more food per item than we have seen at Tapas places around was true.
We tried most of the traditional tapas - potatoes, calamari, octopus, steak, empanadas…. All items were big enough to share easily among four people with plenty to go around. Service was excellent and non-intrusive- another pitcher of sangria and then we ordered two orders of churros for four. Big mistake! Way too many churros on a single plate for just two people - and they were quite good. We could easily have ordered only one plate for four.
Overall, we were impressed with the food quality, the service, the rather non-noisy ambiance (so e could actually hear each other unlike some louder places), and most importantly value for money. Larger than expected dishes meant we left with 45$ per person after two pitchers of sangrias, dessert and stomachs absolutely full of great tapas including tips. That’s great value these days!!
I highly recommend this place for groups of 4-6 in intimate settings. Food comes quickly so order more only after you see what your already got… be aware of generous portions and enjoy!!

Instead, we were given what felt like an expiration date on our dining experience. It was 5 PM on a Thursday—just an hour after the restaurant had opened for the evening—and the place was practically empty. Despite this, the staff seemed intent on rushing us out the door.
From the moment we sat down, the service felt hurried. Our waiter frequently checked his watch, creating an uncomfortable atmosphere. The final insult came when our checks were placed on the table without us even asking—while we were still eating and drinking! It was clear they wanted us gone, and the restaurant wasn’t shy about showing it.
Let me be clear, this lack of service came from the manager, waiter, and hostess.
This kind of treatment is baffling, especially in a completely empty restaurant. Dining out is supposed to be a leisurely experience, not a race against an invisible clock. Instead of feeling welcomed, we were made to feel like an inconvenience. Silla del Toro might have good food and ambiance, but when the service makes you feel rushed and unwelcome, it leaves a bad taste that no meal can fix. I won’t be returning, and I certainly won’t recommend this place to anyone looking for a hospitable dining experience.

Read moreA friend and I visited Silla del Toro about a week ago (it was at the "half-way" point) for an overdue visit. I'd planned to write a review sooner, but remembered when I went to reserve a table for dinner tonight w/ my husband (our anniversary) that I had not. Returning to the same place in ten days?--Yeah! it is THAT GOOD!
My friend and I sat in a booth across from the bar. The sophisticated, quiet, tasteful, modern decor wasperfect for talking over cocktails. Thankfully, there was no tv to compete with--diners actually were having real face to face conversations! What a concept! That fact alone counted for an additional "star."
Katie, our server was helpful, attentive, and easy going. She answered all our questions and suggested things for us to try. During the meal, Brently (?) stopped by the table to make sure that all was going well. We assured him that it was!
Cocktails: My friend had the sangria flight. I had a "build your own" G& T. Tapas: I recommend the chuletas (lamb chops), empanadas, olives, grilled asparagus. And, Katie recommended the flour-less chocolate cake for dessert. EVERYTHING was beautifully prepared and delicious. We decided that Silla del Toro will be our go to place for our get togethers from now on.
My husband and I are looking forward to having a delicious tapas meal...
