Charro Mexican Restaurant and Bar — Restaurant in Decatur

Worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant that just opened. Usually when a business first opens, owners and staff do their due diligence to make sure their customer’s experience is a positive one… not this place! When we first got there, it was apparent that there was no order when checking people in. Customers were trying to figure it out amongst themselves. We were sat w/the usual chips and salsa. However, we’re not given plates, napkins, nor silverware. It took awhile to get drinks (we only ordered tea and soda so waiting on a bartender was not the issue). After a good 15 minutes, I got up to try and find someone to give us napkins… no luck.. had to hunt and find them myself. The food (when it finally came out) was terrible. None of the five of us could even eat 1/2 of our meals. Two of us had cold food. One of us ordered 3 tacos and was given 2.5 due to missing 1/2 the shell. It took forever to get a replacement taco (which ended up not being eaten). We had to get up to chase someone down to get silverware after our meals were delivered. We were never asked if we needed refills on our drinks (we did eventually get a refills though). We were never asked how things were or anything! The lady that tried to seat people was also trying to clean tables. From what we could tell, there was one waiter for one room of tables and he did not seem to understand English very well. The food was terribly overpriced for the portion sizes etc… we spent well over $100 for 5 people without ordering appetizers nor drinks with alcohol. Since I’ve been home, I’ve been laying down because I honestly feel sick to my stomach from the food. Long story short… place is unorganized, food is terrible, and service was horrific. We have been here 3 or 4 times now & always had great food & great service except today which I paid for my parents because of Fathers Day… We walked in the owner seated us, a lady came to bring salsa & chips and take our drink order. She comes back with the drinks approximately 2 minutes after we’ve sat down asking if we’re ready to order. My mom said a few more mins she came back mom asked about regular fajitas in which she was told that is only a lunch menu & today the lunch menu isn’t offered… If my mom wanted fajitas she had to get gourmet fajitas and pay nearly an arm & leg. I ordered a steak taco salad, she said steak not ground beef right. I agreed. Dad ordered a chicken taco salad. Mom enchiladas supremes. We get our food I get steak which I chewed and chewed on much like a dog with a bone. Moms chicken was so tough. And my dad got a ground beef taco salad. When I told another waitress she took the plate & a couple seconds later our waitress came back stating it’s ground beef which is what my dad ordered. I told her no he ordered chicken. She looked at him and said “ you said you wanted ground beef because I asked ground beef or chicken.” My dad is pretty easy going (me on the other hand little spitfire) so he told her ground beef would be fine. She came back a few minutes later asking if everything was ok, knowing I was furious my dad answered her question. We finished eating I could have used another tea, she never came back to check again, didn’t even bring us the check I had to go up front. Just a little advice, avoid Charro's in Decatur/Mt. Zion. Absolute worst service ever! I left a 0% tip. I told them my order three times and it took them four attempts to get it right. It took over 30 minutes to get our food order taken. It took 1.5 hours to get our food. Not once did anyone from management/ownership come to ask us how things were. Our waiter could only take three drink orders at a time. My daughter ordered fajita nachos mixed and only got it with chicken. She didn't waste her time telling them since it took so long to take our order and get our food. The when out tickets came, it took three times for them to get my ticket correct. We actually had to bus our own table because no one came to take bottles, glasses, empty chip baskets, and empty salsa dishes from our table. There is no way I will ever step foot in that place ever again. I predict the restaurant will be closed within 3-4 months.

UPDATE: My daughter's boyfriend was at Charro's last night also. He gave his server cash to pay for his meal. The server pocketed the cash and tried to say that my daughter's boyfriend never gave him any money. So not only is the food flavorless, the service horrible, but the servers will try to...
