Culver’s — Restaurant in Decatur

I’d like to start off by saying I’m not angry in anyway, just a bit confused. I’m trying to make sense of how my experience tonight went and I just can’t seem to figure it out. I had went with a friend an hour before they closed to try the flavor of the day. When we had pulled in we were the only car in line. The younger guy at the window had taken our order and told us to pull forward. I was never handed a receipt and I was thrown off by being told to pull forward when we were the only ones in line. As we waited 5 minutes passed and we were confused what was taking so long. I had joked saying “I think they took our order and forgot about us.” Now, it’s been 10 minutes and we are watching them clean and prep for closing through the window. Shortly after a nice lady had come out to give us our ice cream and apologized. She had said “I’m sorry for your wait, they forgot about you guys.” Completely shocked how they managed to take our order and immediately forget about us. (Side note) The younger guy taking our order was very kind and respectful. The lady who brought our ice cream out was truly sorry...

First time I was here, the food was subpar. This was within a week of opening. Ice cream is FLAVORED VANILLA ICE CREAM. Not a fan. But hey, if you like that sorta thing.

Second chances are a must in my book so I gave em one a few months later. Food was actually good this time. Fresh and exactly what I ordered. Knew better with the ice cream so that was a no go. But hubby likes it so...

3rd time around was an absolute disgrace. I ordered chicken fingers this time, they tasted like they were fried in the same oil as fish (accident or not, that is unacceptable). My husband orders pretty much the same thing everywhere he goes. His burger was cold. The bread was hard and the bacon was floppy. Fries were cold and powdery.

Guys, your staff smiles and is friendly enough. Your food comes out fast and with a huge friendly smile. Its your cooking standards. And your ice cream.

JACKS WILL HANDS DOWN BE MY FAVORITE PLACE TO GET SHAKES FROM FOREVER BECAUSE THEY USE ACTUAL ICE CREAM. They dont flavor vanilla. If this is not what you do, then you need better quality ice...

Overall Culver’s was 3 stars purely based on food. The service was good the food was brought out quickly and was hot. We talked with the manager about some of the frozen custards they have in a freezer. However overall the butter burger, fries, and cheese curds were all just kind of mediocre.

The cheese curds had a similar flavor to a storebought mozzarella stick. The crinkle cut fries were okay nothing to complain about here but also nothing to recommend. The burger itself was the only thing that made any of the food worth it. It’s a good burger. Just not as good as the rating and recommendations of others here would have you believe.

The shake honestly was the biggest reason Culver’s got 3 stars instead of 4. Chocolate syrup is not a substitute for chocolate custard/ice cream in a chocolate shake.
