A favorite pop-up taco spot now turned brick and mortar. I've been a customer/fan of Mascogo Tacos for a while now. They have recently expanded their menu and taken over a brick and mortar operation. The food is, unquestionably, authentic Oaxacan style Mexican fare. I've ventured to try some of the new menu offerings and they have not disappointed. The mole chicken was rich and complex. The pork verde enchiladas were delicious. Surprisingly, the papas con chile were a star addition. Just simple crispy potatoes with salsa macha and a delicious creamy dipping sauce: made my tastebuds sing and definitely left me wanting more of them. The huarache was outstanding - fresh masa flatbread style with beans, cheese, and a taco filling of your choosing (I had mine with Carne Picante). Highly recommend this spot. The salsa macheteada had wonderful flavors, not overly spicy so as to take away from the overall taste of the dish. The only knock would be the “store bought” chips. Good flavor and spice level for the spicy margarita. The star of the show was and as it should be, the tacos… we both ended up with the pollo vulcan, carnitas, and al pastor. These tacos brought back the memories of a trip to CCMX that we took in February. I don’t often find carnitas with crispy and browned edges. The pollo vulcan should not be missed. The adobo for the al pastor was spot on. Kudos to Mascogo. Great food, service, and atmosphere. Can’t wait to come back and try the other 9...
Read moreHoly cow! Some of the best tacos & salsa I’ve ever had!!! I’m a bit of a taco snob, and Mascogo Tacos did 👏not👏disappoint. I’m going to be dreaming about this meal for a long time. My husband & I came from Brookhaven just to try this place and now I’m so mad I dont live closer so I can eat here all the time. The salsa roja was addictively good, and the tacos—PHENOMENAL. We had the Al pastor (which was probably the best Al pastor taco I’ve been had), carnitas (amazing) and barbacoa (🔥). I’m getting hungry again just writing this review. The space is perfectly intimate and the staff is so cool. We felt right at home. I’m so excited to have discovered this gem and I can’t wait...
