Awesome.
Took a gamble on a large order for my grandfather’s 88th birthday. $85 for three people.
I used to live in Hong Kong and dearly miss the food. For 30 years, I have listened to my NY snowbird grandparents complain about FL Chinese food.
I decided on a full HK style banquet:
Har gau/水饺 shrimp dumplings: great quality with whole shrimp inside
Chinese Wonton soup: beautifully flavored broth, delicious traditional pork/shrimp wonton. This is a couple bucks more than the normal wonton soup, but completely worth it. Grandparents loved the unique flavor.
BBQ pork slice叉烧: not fully traditional char siu. Pork slices were coated in five spice Hk bbq sauce. Pork was tender, and my grandfather was happy, so all was good.
Half duck 烤鸭Cantonese style: Well executed. 外公 absolutely loved it. Due to being in a takeout container, we lost the skin crispiness.
Whole snapper, steamed, ginger/scallion sauce on the side: This was for grandma. Given how shrimp dishes are a gamble, I opted to go for a whole snapper, a fish she loves. Very generously sized. 外公 and 外婆 were delighted by the flavor and tenderness. The sauce was very salty and was left alone.
Young chow 扬州 fried rice, only a little soy sauce by request: Tasted identical to Hong kong fried rice. Most places in the USA drown fried rice in soy sauce until it is mahogany in color. Here, I was in heaven.
Mushroom and asparagus: We devoured this. The asparagus was delicious even though we were long out of season. Grandad liked the mushrooms, despite often picking them out of most dishes!
My only regret? I tipped a few bucks to bring the check to $90. I should have given a crisp Benjamin.
This was the first Chinese dinner that my grandparents have both enjoyed in Florida. Ever.
Thank you so much....
Read moreI've edited this review a few times now, but now that the new owners seem to have gotten into the groove of the restaurant business, I think it's fair to place this at five stars once and for all. This restaurant has the best Chinese food I've ever had, hands down. Whether it be the crab rangoon or egg drop soup or any of the chicken dishes, the food is rich, flavorful, and delicious. Lunch prices are a bit excessive and not very competitive, but the dinner special pricing, albeit more pricey than it used to be, is definitely still a bargain for all that you get--~$16 for soup, an egg roll, main dish, side of rice, and ice cream. Service has gotten much friendlier and the venue itself is quaint and blends comfort with formality well. Would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone interested in a solid meal of Chinese cuisine. It's...
Read moreDO NOT EAT HERE!!!!! My husband, my father and I went to this resturant and Ordered general tao's chicken which was chicken slices trying to pass as general taos it wasnt breaded and tasted like bbq sauce. We ordered large burbon chicken which hardly had chicken in it and was mostly green peppers and onions. It tasted half rotted and like it was fried in fish oil. The lomen was overly salty! My husband and I decided to go back to the resturant to complain and ask for a refund. When we did the staff became very aggresssive and we were ganged up on by 3 staffers all yelling at us with one yelling and pointing at us in another language! They asked to see our food to which we brought the uneaten portions back. Then one staffer said he would only refund us $5 dollars! On a $38 dollar bill! Clearly ABC stands for ALL...
