JByrd's Muddy Waters Restaurant & Raw Bar — Restaurant in Deerfield Beach

Arrived at 1:45/2ish to meet a friend. Ordered drinks. This waiter was the bomb. Respectful, fun! It was not crowded. We sat outside. The weather was in the mid/low 60s! We ordered an appetizer and another cocktail! Before we were finished, this waiter had to cash out. No problem and he was tipped very well (over 20%) in Lew of how slow it was and the Holidays!!! We waited for the turnover for quite a while 20 minutes I'd say. It still was not busy. David, took over his section. Ordered drinks and bottled water. When he came back to us...glasses empty for a bit. We order another drink and peel and eat spiced shrimp! We were continually watching for tables to fill up and or people waiting to be seated! THERE WAS NO ONE WAITING AND 3 TABLES AVAILABLE IN HIS SECTION AND EVEN LESS CUSTOMERS IN THE OTHER SECTION! We where just finished with the shrimp and I was going to place an order to go (gator bite tacos) and still tables available (2) of them! But, at that time, David, came to our table slapped his hand down between us on the table and said "OK girls, you were here last Fri. and it is time for you to go. You have been here long enough and this is my section and you 2 are not going to just sit here taking away my table like you did last Friday ". He was so loud, Rude. and Disrespectful, that everyone turned to see what was going on. My friend and I had already spent well over 100.00 dollars and wanted to place the to go order and have another cocktail while we waited for it to be done! He then proceeded to talk about us to the table next to us while taking their order! We were continually watching to make sure that you had no other patrons waiting and there was not. There were 2 , 4 topper tables and a 2 top all bench swing type tables. Yes, we had met there 2 weeks ago and stayed but continually ordering food and also cocktails, for my friend, bottled water and coffee for me and food.(Diabetic so cannot consume alcohol). I did get to order the gator bite taco dinner to go for husband that time but not this tme! In conclusion, I cannot express how embarrassing this was for us! David slapped that table so loud it made us jump. I thought he was just coming over to see what else we would like to order! He also had not cleaned up all of the dishes and splashed butter on my shirt, both our phones and my eye glasses! We really enjoy sitting outside at this establishment and our bills always top out between 150.00 or more! So in conclusion, we could have understood him politely or humorously asking us if we were about ready to go because there were people waiting but as I said there were NO CUSTOMERS WAITING AND THERE WERE SWING BOOTHS AVAILABLE!!! Also, we always tip very generously. We'll over 20%! If or when we may choose to return to this establishment, we will ask not to be seated in David's section!!! My friend, had just returned from MX where she owns 2 homes and she also owns her home in Boca Raton! We both are well educated women and can go anywhere we wish to quaf and catch up to date with each other! We would never stay and hold up any business' ability to accommodate other customers! We both are totally appalled by the DISRESPECT WE EXPERIENCED BY YOUR WAITER, DAVID! We were treated exceptionally well, by your day waiter and tipped him generously! Also, the last time we were at this establishment, we noticed that it was quickly getting busy, placed my to go Order and gave up our table while we waited for it to be prepared standing beside the bench at one of your entrances while chatting with a family who were waiting to be seated inside! David was tipped very well.. THE LAST TIME!!! BUT ONLY 10% THIS TIME!!! In conclusion, we did not ask to speak to the manager or owner...for it was very busy inside but not...

Maybe we went on an off night or just had horrible luck with service. But wow this was the worst dining experience my husband and I have had in many years and possibly ever! The hostess I must say was very friendly and pleasant. We were immediately seated with menus, and it was all downhill from there. After about 5 minutes of sitting there with menus (one menu was missing 2 pages), we were greeted by a young male server. We ordered waters and a beer right away as well as a few apps after telling him jokingly, how hungry and thirsty we were. Another FIVE minutes passes after our order was taken, and we are given our soup... JUST THE SOUP still no drinks. We went to grab the hot sauce and pepper and both were filthy and almost empty. The soup was barely “OK”, nothing special. We were then brought our next app STILL NO DRINKS ! We have now been at the table For over 10 minutes without any beverages on the table (not even water). We ask for our drinks and the server barely apologizes and brings them out a few minutes later. The appetizers we ordered were very poor quality! Two of the oysters we ordered were BAD. They smelled and taste horrible. The crab cakes were mostly breading and not great quality crab meat. The Bimini bread was SO hot, you could tell it was over microwaved. The entire bottom half of the bread was HARS AS A ROCK! Literally , you could not chew it or cuz it, it was so stale and over “nuked”. We were in a Bit of a rush, but we reluctantly ordered our dinners with one modification which was sauce on side and add a 🥗 . We never received the salad and the dish was DROWNING in sauce. Our server never apologized for forgetting the salad or not getting the sauce on the side of the main dish. Honestly, if the food was superb it may have been a little easier to forgive such horrible service . We also waited a good 10-15 minutes after we ate and all of our plates had been cleared, to pay our bill. My husband and I are both in the business so we tend to be a lot more understanding than normal customers but this server lacked proper training and empathy for his mistakes. This is a casual in the neighborhood bar in my opinion. Theme daily specials with, $5 Happy Hour everyday and a raw bar YUMMY.

This was the second visit, shrimp was ordered it was the special for Saturdays. Grilled shrimp and blackened shrimp were ordered. The shrimp was a bit over cooked, the sauce served with it had a ranch flavor, this was not too my liking. Then ordered oysters and mussels from the raw bar. They are $0.99 great price can't go wrong with a raw bar. We messed up again and ordered the crab cakes, the presentation was a joke, mango sauce in the middle scared me and it was just fried filler with remnant traces of crab. We had several drinks, it was happy hour $5 drinks and $4 for wine. The Hostess was excellent she took pictures of us. The waitress was attentive.Everything was great! (EXCLUDING the shrimp special and crab)

Unfortunately, an hour after we left, we discovered the debit card that paid the bill was being used to purchase a $1900 air bnb. The bank texted and called trying to confirm the fraudulent charges. The cardholder had their card in possession, and let the bank know they don't even have an air bnb account. It wasn't the card owner making these charges.

If you leave your house in the morning, take an Uber to the airport (phone payment), sit in a section of the plane that gives free food and drinks (no need to take out a card to purchase), go to Muddy Waters, have a tab way over a hundred dollars because it's fun positive vibes there, give the waitress your card, get it back from her then go home, only to have your bank call you to state something fraudulent is happening on your card. Would you patronize Muddy Waters again?

I would say yes only for the raw bar lol, yet I will never go...
