On December 10, 2021, I went to Kissner's to eat because someone recommended it to us. We got there; the waitresses completely ignored us as if we were invisible. We could sense the atmosphere in the room, but we were hungry and wanted something to eat. After we asked to be seated, one of the waitresses told us there were no tables available. They had at least three empty tables there. A white couple there asked us to sit with them; we agreed and sat with them. The waitress did not acknowledge us sitting there until the white couple said we were waiting to order our food. The waitress finally made her way to our table and took our orders. We witnessed people coming in, eating, and leaving while we sat at the table for over an hour, waiting for our food. When asked the waitress what happened to our food, she acted surprised and went to talk to the chef. We could see them having a conversation, but it was clear that she never put in the order. We asked to speak to the manager; the owner, who was the chef that day, told his wife that he was too busy and would not talk to us. The way they treated us was an absolute disgrace. They told us we were not "welcome in their restaurant," predominantly white. I will never go back to that place, even if it was the last place on earth. The racism there was so apparent and made me sick. I did not ask to be black; this is the race I was born into. Black people have the right to eat wherever they want to. It is a shame that people like you have kept poising our country because of your hate for black people. God created everyone equal. I hope God changes your racist ways. WE DO NOT HAVE ROOM FOR RACIST PEOPLE LIKE YOU...
Read moreIt was a truly wonderful experience to say the least. It was August 21st, 2019 at 2:57 when I discovered that my girlfriend was cheating on me with my dad. It was the most heart breaking and wrenching thing I have ever felt before. Four and a half year gone in an instant to the one who I called Daddy. I broke up with her immediately and moved to Defiance. I had no home. I had no family, and had no one to call mine. It was down pouring that evening and I was stuck in the rain. I was lost and cold in a town I had no knowledge of. But there it was. Kissners Restaurant. The sign was shine beautifully against the pouring rain. It was warm and inviting. I stepped inside and was greeted by a wonderful lady named Catherine. She gave me a warm towel and sat me down at a booth in the corner. She offered to pay for my meal in return that I tell her how I ended up in the situation that had unfolded. I explained the situation and Catherine and she shed a single tear to my story, enough to tell me that I had found a new start. I was served a delicious meal with beautiful atmosphere. I left that evening with a full stomach and hope for a better future. I now have a loving partner and a terrier mix named Cheeto. Kissners gave me hope for better things to come, and I am eternally grateful for their kind staff and...
Read moreAweful!! We were there last night for dinner. It was not particularly busy. We sat at a table with a clear view of the kitchen. We ordered right away. Husband got shrimp platter, I ordered fish platter. 45 minutes later, I noticed the cooks had no tickets hanging and were straightening the kitchen. Our waitress was behind the bar socializing with other staff. Called her over, and ask if she had put our orders in. Our drink glasses were empty, she walked away and returned saying, the orders had been placed, she walked away to rejoin her friends at the bar. Drink grasses still empty. Another 10 minutes pass before I carried our empty glasses to the bar for refills and ask to see the manager. Another 15 mins pass before our food arrives, 1 Very burnt fillet of fish & hashbrowns for $9.50 my husband's shrimp & fries also burnt. The manager took $3.00 off our total bill. I realize that these days restaurants are very challenged. But on this nite there were plenty of staff for the customers in the place. So sad to see whats happening to customer...
