Church's Texas Chicken — Restaurant in Del City

I've got mixed feelings about my recent visit.

The food: Whereas the chicken legs and thighs and coleslaw were fantastic the mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese were both cold and the chicken strips were cold and almost felt like they were microwaved.

The service: This was a mixed bag. We placed the order online at 6:53 and it said it would be ready at 6:55pm. We left the house at 6:55pm figuring it would be ready when we got there. We arrived at 7:05pm. There were 4 cars in the drive thru when we pulled up and zero parking spots open so we chose the drive thru. Out of the 4 cars in front of me, 3 drove off, 1 ordered just sides. I thought this was suspect but I figured the order was already placed and should be ready, let's see what they say. The speaker comes on, "it's going to be just a few minutes". No problem we waited a few minutes no big deal. I understand the drive thru fast food is busy. She comes back on, "what can I get for you today". I explain we have a mobile order and give them our name. Her: "There's a 15 minute wait on chicken". Me: "Ok no big deal we already paid we can wait." I wait for instructions to pull forward or park or something. Her: "I said there's a 15 minute wait on chicken". Me: "I understand, would you like us to pull to the window and wait for our order or what would you like us to do." Her: "I don't care, pull to the window if you want" So I pull up to the window and proceed to wait. About 5 minutes go by and a lady comes to the window, "what was your order? Was it the 10 piece?" I go into explaining we had a web order and have her the name again. She closes the window and walks away. After about 20 to 25 minutes we finally got our order. No huge deal with the extra wait. They told us there was a wait but not once were we updated or told it would be a bit longer.

Atmosphere: this location has a terrible parking lot that's difficult to navigate and only 4 real parking spots. It is what it is.

All in all it was a very neutral visit. The legs and thighs were amazing and I would totally recommend it if you have time to wait. Hopefully your sides will be warm if you go here. It's almost like they made our sides and had them sitting there waiting the 20 minutes for...

This used to be my favorite Churches until TODAY. CJ, the "manager" was short with all his answers, and then when I simply asked if they had a "churches sauce" I was instantly told I had to pay for it. This was after I had asked for honey and told there was none. Cj was very snappy and clearly wanted to get back to the phone call that he repeatedly screamed at me that he was on. He openly talked about the fact that I was upset that he immediately demanded payment for sauces, claiming that I should be angry at the owner and the he was unable to give out "8 sauces just because I want them". I never asked for 8 sauces, I asked if they had a signature churches sauce. He was so rude and so arrogant, he very much made me feel like an inconvenience at his job. We drove to THIS location because we believe it to be the best quality food! Unfortunately, quality customer service trumps food.

Until CJ is fired, or I get my "8 sauces that I just want", I will not be returning here. Sad.

I would really like to talk to the actual manager or preferably the owner who CJ told me to directly blame. I'm sure this isn't the way you want your employees to speak with customers or treat long time patrons. I'm sorry that this one person has tainted my otherwise loyal preference to this location. First I ordered the 8 piece you 1 lg side and 4 biskets legs and thighs. Legs seemed ok the coleslaw I got was soured and the thighs were black on inside like they were bad. I mean your chicken is not suppose to be black. So I took the chicken thighs and coleslaw back. The boss guy made me like I was in the wrong. I said I would like to see u take a bite of coleslaw and my chicken not suppose to be black. He got a attitude, I sorry are you getting a attitude I just asking for replacement. I had the stuff that was bad and receipt. He said give just what came off and I said ill take macaroni an cheese. Well all said and done I was made to feel horrible I paid almost 30 dollars for this meal with a couple apple pies. When I got home they had given me legs and on the inside they were black and macaroni was terrible their still setting in front set of car. Its gross somebody is going to get sick. I'm going back in morning and giving back their food. Ill take the loss before I eat that rottan stuff I'm sorry...
