Better Buzz Coffee - Del Mar — Restaurant in Del Mar

Let me first say, I am a Better Buzz fan and a long-standing customer who frequents multiple locations. So on New Year’s morning I mozied into the Del Mar shop, got an (expensive) latte, and sat down to enjoy it.

That became a most challenging task. The music was uncomfortably loud. People came by my table and started chatting with me and I could barely hear them over the blaring music… And this was relatively early in the morning… New Year’s morning no the less, when some people might be hung over. I wasn’t, but I have enough emotional intelligence to think of others. You guys are running a coffee shop, not a night club.

Additionally, the type of music that was playing (close to Rap) was an insanely poor fit for both the time of day it was, AND the Del Mar clientele. Was there an adult on duty managing this place? There was ZERO THOUGHT of how the music affected the environment. It was so repelling, though I originally intended to order some breakfast after my coffee, I just packed up my things and left.

Today was my second visit in a week. The first visit, the man who took my order was nice and answered any questions I had. The service was surprisingly slow as there wasn't much of a line. I had downloaded the app so I did a mobile order today. I arrived about 3 minutes after my order. Received my food about 5 minutes later. Around 20 minutes I finally asked where my drink was. I was told someone else must have taken it and next time ask sooner. I indicated I had been there and was watching the drinks but she insisted someone must have taken it. She made my drink quickly. The main reason I waited so long to ask is because people waiting in the lobby when I got there were finally getting their items so I figured since they have been here longer, mine was likely still coming. Plus I was watching how quickly the baristas worked and it was not very quick at all. Most people were waiting about 20 minutes. For the time of day it was, I was surprised at the slow service.
