Ate at Porkies for the first time tonight, mostly due to location as I was in the area and looking to try a BBQ place I had not been to before. There were both good and bad things about it:

GOOD: Atmosphere - Porkies looks like a converted 7-11 of yesteryear but it's in a prime location and easy to get to. The decor of the restaurant is great and certainly suitable for a family setting.

Staff - The staff was friendly and knowledgable about the food they were serving. The woman who took my order recommended the dirty taters for a side and they did not disappoint.

Sides: I had the dirty taters and the baked beans, both of which were great and suitable for just about any southern BBQ meal.

BBQ Sauce: Porkies has quite a few different sauces to choose from, all of which were good. The sweet hot was probably my favorite with the Carolina Red coming in 2nd place. The Carolina red was pretty thin in body - if it were a bit thicker, it could really be a great sauce.

BAD: Brisket: Unfortunately the meat just didn't cut it. The brisket I had was bland and required a LOT of sauce to give it some flavor. I'm actually hesitant to call it brisket at all as it really had the texture of a roast. It's not really clear to me what Porkies' cooking method is but if it's smoked, you couldn't tell.

Sausage: Again, if it's smoked, you couldn't tell. The flavor was alright but just alright.

Porkies was $24 for 2 meats, 2 sides, and a drink. That's a lot of money but it's also a lot of food, which definitely works in their favor. Would I come back? Maybe...but I'd try...

🌟 Review for Porkies BBQ in DeLand 🌟

If you’re looking for a true taste of BBQ heaven, Porkies BBQ in DeLand is the place to be! From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted by a warm, rustic atmosphere that feels like home. The wooden paneling, charming memorabilia, and quirky decor—like the boar's head mounted on the wall and the “Alabama Fans Parking Only” sign or the "Stetson Haters flag"—create a cozy vibe that sets the perfect backdrop for a hearty meal.

Now, let’s talk about the food! The BBQ here is simply out of this world. Whether you're a fan of ribs, pulled pork, or brisket, you’re in for a treat. The meat is smoked to perfection, tender, and packed with flavor. I tried their signature pulled pork sandwich, and it was juicy and delicious, topped with their homemade sauce that strikes the perfect balance between sweet and tangy.

The sides are equally impressive—don’t skip the baked beans and coleslaw! They complement the BBQ perfectly and are just as mouthwatering. And let’s not forget about the prices—great value for the generous portions!

The staff at Porkies BBQ are friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home. Whether you’re dining in or grabbing takeout, the service is top-notch. Plus, the casual atmosphere is perfect for families, friends, or even a laid-back date night.

If you’re in the DeLand area, do yourself a favor and stop by Porkies BBQ. You won't be disappointed! 🍖💚 #BBQLovers...

We had the pleasure of visiting this place with family a few weeks ago and I had to write a review. This is a very cozy and relaxed atmosphere. The friendly and welcoming staff are the kind that make you feel like you are dining with family. The owner came out a chatted with us for a while and that added to the warm vibe. The food is phenomenal and everything was spot on from the hint of smoke to the seasoning. I prefer sliced brisket as opposed to chopped and appreciate a little more smoke on my BBQ but that’s just me and overall, it was a very solid showing. Between the four of us were able to sample the ribs, brisket, chicken, slaw, beans, garlic toast, and pretty much all of the BBQ staples you would hope to find. One additional thing really stood out to me and that was the cornbread. These were being baked when I requested them and therefore, they came out piping hot. These are more like corn muffins in the cupcake tin rather than a square sheet type. I cannot adequately express how fantastic these are! They are a light, sweet, and sort of a corn cake that has bits of sweet corn in them and all the love that will bring a tear to your eye. From all of the other positive reviews I can see that they are widely loved and you can add my...

We stop here looking for a BBQ place after all day at the Lake. And it do not dissapoint. I ordered a Killer Ribs, the flavor was spectacular, smoky, tender and juicy, it came with 2 sides of fries and garlic bread. The whole plate was perfect. With that it rquires a good beer but it was not that cold just fridge temperature not COLD. Interior is good atmosphere but a little small, I would recommend to give attention and renovate the patio it is very neglected, it would give great vibe to the experience even have it screened and at night it would be a plus. Definetily have to try it and have some southern great BBQ.
