El Vaquero Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Delaware

TL:DR Stay away from this place, bad food, worse service... unless of course you are trying to make someone sick or taking your worst enemy to dinner.

I came back to this place to give it a second chance because it is the closest Mexican food place where I live and I really wanted it to work. Putting aside my bias of being from Texas and eating a lifetime of real authentic Mexican food, and being completely confused on why anyone would put mashed potato's in a chili relleno... I'm giving this place a one star because I have had the WORST experience as a customer at any restaurant consistently there, than any other place I have ever been. Last time I went they served me rotten pork... I told the staff about it after asking for a different plate and they could not be bothered. I could smell bad pork coming from the kitchen when we left. We did not come back for months and last night thought 'lets give it another chance' maybe it was just an off night. After changing servers twice the one that did 'serve' us came to our table 3 times in an hour and 15 minutes. After we got our food (he did not bring) we did not see him, I had to ask one of the other waiters to get him so we could get a check and a box. This of course after completely getting our order wrong and not wanting to wait more than 20 minutes for it to be corrected I ate it. When we finally got our check (from a completely different waiter) I went to the counter and paid for it and asked if I could speak to a manager, not to get a refund I just wanted to let them know how bad it was.... they told me I would have to wait 1 hour to talk to a manager, because they are busy in the kitchen... I even gave them my phone number to call when the manager was not so busy it would take an hour to have a 30 second conversation and of course never got a phone call. I decided to give it the night before jumping on to angrily write a review in case I was over reacting and did not deserve it... just to wake up sick to my stomach from the food AGAIN. I have loved the El Vaquero chain throughout my time in Columbus. Since moving to Delaware and frequenting this location, I have been disappointed in take out every time (8-9 take out orders) . I have been over charged multiple times and never made a deal of it. Tonight I called in an order and was told in 15 minutes it would be ready. I waited to show up until almost 30 minutes because I know their time is not always accurate and I didn't want to wait. I got there and realized my price was way off, and after looking at the notepad I saw that the order was written wrong. I corrected the cashier and she went back to get it together. 15 minutes later she brings me my food, which should have been the correct food. I didn't get the one meal at all, and the other was not made to special instructions. I told them both were wrong and 5 to 10 minutes later got the missing meal, not made to its special instructions and the same wrong meal. In conclusion I placed an order at 8 and didn't get to walk out until almost 9. I only give this 2 stars because I could eat most of the food and was hungry. I will not be going to this...

This El vaquero is my favorite El vaquero. They work so hard and your food comes out FAST! every single employee I've had the pleasure of meeting there is amazing and very friendly. I love it in here so much that I wish I could go every day but I would have no money left. If you have never been to El vaquero, they have a large menu with something for everyone. I could order something randomly on the menu and absolutely love it. There is not a dish in this restaurant that I wouldn't have. Everything is such a delicious flavor it amazes my tastebuds every time. Really, anyone can be happy here. They have the best queso and fresh chips, I have to get it every time. We also love their drinks, the jumbo margs are the best but make sure you can handle your tequila! Haha...I recommend the mezcalita too or something like that, it's the margarita with mezcal.
