I had driven past multiple times and I everytime I drove by I thought, man I need to try this place. Well, I finally got around to trying it out and I am not impressed. Ordering & Pickup: First off, it was incredibly hard to find a menu for this place online, there were multiple websites that all said different things. I called in at 7:22pm, I was anticipating being placed on hold or some sort of delay because it’s a Friday night and I find most restaurants are busiest this time of the week. There was no delay and the girl was very patient with my questions as I was very confused at the lack of menu consistency online. I ordered Ana’s House Enchiladas and 3 street tacos: 1 carnitas, 1 chicken, and 1 steak, they took my first and last name and my phone number and told me the wait time and I hopped in my car to go pick it up. I parked on the street since that was most convenient to me to get in and out and headed home. I walked up to the door and it was locked? The girl had to come unlock it so that I could come inside, my immediate thoughts are that they were testing temperature at the door or needed the extra effort to control the capacity of guests due to COVID. No temperature test was taken, and no comment was offered. The restaurant itself took over from an old bar that was there last year, and I never went to the bar, but it doesn’t seem to me like they did many renovations as it comes across as a dingy dive bar upon stepping inside the door. There were three girls at the bar who were all ready to help me, with only two tables filled in the entity of the place. The girls were enthusiastic, and excited to help me, talking up the food a good bit when I told them it was my first time in. My order came to a total of $19, which was more than I calculated off the menus I found online, which I found confusing but I chalked it up to the variances in menus that I found. There were mini paper menus on the bar so I grabbed one to reference for next time I wanted to order. The Food: Upon arrival at my home I was hooped out the car and raced inside to dig in. In my bag, I found: 3 different sauces(a murky red, a creamy orange, and a verde), a large bag of chips, and 2 styrofoam boxes (hate to see styrofoam, my recycling company doesn’t take it, so it has to go out with the trash, I would like to see more paper boxes locally). First, I opened up the different sauces, I wasn’t impressed with either of the red varieties and found the verde to have more heat in comparison to the others and I thanked my stars. I opened the box labeled tacos and I squeezed a lime on each and took a bite. The only taco with a hint of flavor on the meat was the chicken. Overall, they were terribly bland and I didn’t even eat the carnitas taco because it was the most unseasoned pulled pork I’ve ever experienced. Very unimpressive. I had to drown my steak taco in the verde salsa to eat it. Which left me with no salsa for the other two. Next I opened the box labeled enchiladas and my first impression was not desired. The menu had said they come topped with a housemade green queso salsa, which I don’t believe was put on my food at all. The enchiladas when opened up were plain white chicken, no peppers/onions/sauce inside to give it flavor. They were topped with a yellow cheese that had melted, and I found them inedible as the only salsa I enjoyed was already devoured. I dined instead on the side of rice and the large portion of lettuce with pico de gallo. I offered my leftovers to my roommates who turned them down because they too, like some flavor in their food. I was planning on coming back another time to experience dining in and try out the shrimp cerviche I saw advertised online, but after sampling the menu items I had tonight, I’m not sure if I can bring myself to go back, for fear of a bland ceviche. The 2 stars I did give were for the girls who were so kind and energetic, the food itself was unimpressive in most every way. I would never expect a Mexican Resturant to have bland food, heads up! Ask for extra salsa,...
Read moreI have never written a food review, but I thought I better with this one so managament is aware. Overall, food was 3 stars. But the customer service needs improved. Granted alot of the issue is that we did arrive at a busy time and the waitress was new. But after it slowed down we still had issues getting anyones attention.
Me and my party ordered. While they were delivering their food she admitted to forgetting to submit my food order and verified what I got. Rushed off before we could get refills or napkins.
My food arrived shortly after my party was done eating, but it wasn't what i ordered and contained items I was allergic to. My group insisted on me resubmiting the ticket because they wanted another margarita and didn't mind hanging out.
After another 10 or 15 minutes my food arrived, unfortunately it was also the wrong dish but close enough I would eat it. But it was plain. When I asked if it came with toppings the waitress explained she was nervous about taking it back again and asked if it was OK if I had my toppings on the side. Sure, no big deal. Again leaving before we could ask for anything else.
When I got the bill I was charged for another meal (not what I ordered or received) as well as all the side toppings. We waited for 10 minutes trying to flag down the waitress to explain. Someone from the back came to help clear our table and we talked to her, and she apologized that the waitress was new but I had received extra toppings and should pay for them. I'm frustrated since I didn't order them, but i can understand. She left before i could explain they added another dish to my check.
After another 5 minutes of trying to flag down the waitress my group decided to pay for the entire bill in cash just to get out of there. We never got drink refills or napkins, food was wrong, and we were billed incorrectly. Experience took over 2 hours. I feel bad because I truly wanted to love this place, but the...
Read moreThis is going to be a critical review. As you can see from my other reviews on my profile, I give out 5 stars left and right. I don’t consider myself an overly harsh reviewer.
I decided to try another Mexican option in Delaware, despite being pretty happy with my usual go-to Mexican. I had hopes that the recent change in management (as reported in the other reviews) would lead to a better experience at Las Miches. It appears they’re still working the kinks out.
Service: our server spent his idle time standing in an area that is viewable by customers, with his shirt up, scratching his belly button. Nice enough guy, until he returned to our table and told me that I “forgot” to give him some information about a couple dishes (I didn’t. I was actually very specific about this because of my kids’ meat preferences). It was strangely confrontational. He then apologized, and said he was “new.” Understandable, and I felt sympathetic for him, because I watched him try to get help from the other staff, who largely ignored his pleas. The “corrected” order ended up being incorrect, anyways.
Food:
Chips and salsa - this is subject to personal preference, but we found them mediocre.
Queso - bad.
Burrito and enchiladas - good. Though, they never brought out the sides with the $18 enchiladas.
Kids dishes - about the same as anywhere else. Served on cheap disposable plastic trays.
Margaritas - good flavor. Though, noticeably weak.
French fries - I think they were frozen from a bag and reheated. It’s my fault for getting french fries at a Mexican restaurant, but come on. It was a medium sized plate of french fries and rather than give a bottle of ketchup, they gave me two individual ketchup packets.
I take no joy in doing this. But when you spend $100 at a restaurant, you should receive a certain level of professionalism, even if the product isn’t that great (it should be). I will continue to try my best to support...
