I have been to Copper Dram on several occasions. In fact, the locals know me. However, I experienced an awful experience tonight. After visiting for happy hour and having a few drinks, then doing my grocery shopping across the street, I returned for dinner, an hour later. Upon my return, the bartenders were happy to serve me. I ordered dinner. However after the third drink, the bartenders cut me off. Their reason was because they served me too much throughout the day. I asked, "what did I do for you to curt me off?" Their response was, "you did nothing, you just had too much to drink today." I said, "Interesting." I left for an hour and conferred with co-counsel and the Delaware Code that states that an intoxicated person is one that is visibly intoxicated.... Upon my return to inform the bartender about the law, she said, "you're visibly intoxicated." "Your pupils are dilated." Amazing that these observations came an hour later, with nothing to drink in between. I spent $200 at this bar today. I find it interesting, that they will accept customers from BBC Tavern at 11:00pm drunk, and visible intoxicated. But, because they haven't been served at Copper, they are at their safe haven until they back out, which I've witnessed.

Judging it as a cocktail bar I think it’s just okay. Watching the bartenders making the drinks, they’re not using jiggers and basically going by eye/feel and you can tell by the inconsistency between the taste of the same drinks ordered multiple times.
I have come here numerous times over the years and the drinks are unfortunately getting less and less appealing, which is a shame because they have tons of competition in the area. Also, the actual drinkware is this flimsy acrylic/glass mixture, it feels super cheap.
Classic example of a big mess up- I ordered a negroni. For some reason it was served neat and with no orange peel. That’s like Bartending 101 - if you can’t make the classics it doesn’t bode well for everything else.
You can tell by looking at the menu they try to hide flavor’s behind strong mixers and syrups.
If you’re coming here for a technically sound drink, it’s not...
Read moreMy friends and I used to love this place, the atmosphere is great and the cocktail variety is excellent but we’ll never be back because of the bartenders/ servers. Last week we were ignored for over 5 minutes to be greeted and have menus dropped (it wasn’t that busy there were bar seats and tables open throughout) not even a hello just dropped menus and back behind the bar. We waited 20+ minutes with menus in the corner and watched the bartenders take shots with customers. No apology once they got to us just a “can I help you.” Just makes you feel uncomfortable and we’ll spend our money elsewhere. We are MORE than understanding of these situations where restaurants/ bars are short staffed and they take time, but to be blatantly ignored and treated like we’re nothing is just not the place we want to continue to go back. Very...
