BBC Tavern and Grill — Restaurant in Delaware

I hate to put a 1 star due to the fact there are great bartenders (brian your the best ) and waitstaff who have given us quality service for over 12 plus years .. However, this evening was horrible ! The worst service we have ever experienced. The male waitress came right over and told us we had to move as we were leaning on a table in the bar area that was reserved. We obliged . After 45 minutes to 1 hour the bar was getting busier and the table was still vacant . He came over once again and said you have to stop touching this table with your wine glass and we moved our wine glass in this busy bar and he wiped the table as if he was very annoyed . Fastforward 5 minutes the table is still empty and the bar is very busy and he says, “ move your glasses I have to make money this table is reserved .” We said we had no problem moving when the table was being seated . That wasn’t good enough for him as he called us all rude . If he had half a brain he would have asked us if we wanted to order drinks instead of us having to order from the bar . I have never experienced rude like this in any restaurant especially BBC. I will find out this rude servers name and publish soon . One of our friends gave him $20 just because he made such a scene about us touching his table with our wine glass . His name is Neil . Dear Neil, next time be smarter .. wait on the customers who are sitting or occupying space in your section. You would have at the very least made $150 cash . We are very generous. Your bad attitude will make you zero . They should terminate you . When they do i will turn this 1 star into a 5 star review because I feel bad for the rest of the talented staff whose customer service is 5 stars . This review shouldn’t reflect the rest of the staff or the restaurant . After reading another customers experience they too said Neil was rude from the get go. Met friends for a late lunch yesterday (31 Dec 2021) and tavern was not busy. We wanted to have a champagne toast and the menu had Mum by the glass. I asked if we could purchase the bottle and if so, what is the price. After a lengthy wait we were told yes and ordered the bottle. The bottle was brought out in a chiller so we could not see the label. Another person in our party took out the bottle and started to take off seal. I said let my husband open and then I noticed the sparkling wine was Andre (BTW one can purchase at Total Wine for $4 a bottle). We returned the sparkling wine. Then ordered one individual small bottle to try. It was terrible but at least only $7. Next three of the four of us ordered drinks. It took forever to get two of the three drinks (a glass of wine and one of two beers). I finally went to the bar and got the other beer and ordered one for myself. When we ordered our food I asked if the salt could be left off the fries I was told the fries come in frozen with salt. I did not feel like pursuing the conversation but doubtful. I watch my salt intake and frankly like to salt my own fries. The fries were salty and cold but I kept quite. BTW, the waitress never cleared off the champagne glasses and wine chiller so I finally put them on the table behind us so we would have room for our food and other drinks. Please remember the tavern was not busy since we had a 2 pm reservation. When we were done eating, we visited and debated on ordering dessert and another round of drinks. Sine our waitress was MIA and our dishes were never cleared from the table (nor our water glasses replenished), we decided to skip dessert and drinks. I certainly will not return to BBC unless it’s to get a beer at the bar. Very dissatisfied and disappointed especially since tavern wasn’t buy when we arrived at 2 pm. Arrived at 3:45 Aesthetically nice. Food came out in a timely fashion

Ordered Buffalo Chicken Mac and Cheese. 7/10 it’s little too rich and soupy but still yummy

Ordered Buffalo Chicken Cheesesteak w/ toasted roll. 9/10 bottom of sub got a little soggy likely due to the buffalo sauce or mayo but still tasted wonderful.

Before ordering food When we were getting drinks (I got Coke) it took 3 tries for the waitress to get the beer that my dad wanted correct. They didn’t go on the bill but still moderately annoying having my dad start pouring a beer then realize ‘wait this isn’t it’

Took 10 minutes to get a sprite after finishing my main course

Now after eating our main course and getting my sprite I decided I wanted to get the Warm Molten Chocolate Cake. But no. My dreams were crushed. Not by my parents. But by the absolutely horrible service. We sat there for 30 minutes after finishing our meal. We had errands to run in a timely manner before the stores closed. And my mom went to fetch our waitress but couldn’t find her. Our waitress had basically just disappeared. She found the floor manager. The floor manager was busing tables. She found our waitress another 10 minutes later. I didn’t even get to order my molten cake.

TL;DR) The manager/owner (not sure who hires) needs to hire more waitresses/waiters because this was good food, and a good location, but absolutely horrible service after 4pm. I finally walked out of the restaurant at 5:25pm. I was there for over 2 hours when I could have been there for 45...
