Disappointed. This evening, my wife, my son and I made our long awaited return to Tony and Dominick's. We first discovered them when searching for a home almost 2 years ago. We settled in central Delaware and don't take too many trips up to Wilmington. We never forgot the service we received the last time from the young men who work there. Tonight that was completely absent in the dining room. Our server was clearly extremely new to the job and made a fatal error that would set in motion a series of unforgivable events over the course of the next 2 hours! She forgot to write down my wife's main course, Rigatoni with sausage. My wife knew she forgot it just by looking her in the eye as she was ordering and noticing that the young lady wasn't writing anything down... My wife asked me to get up and go ask if she wrote down the order correctly but I couldn't bring myself to ask such a stupid question. Little did I know... Each table has a table tent with a note, urging guests not to lose their patience with the kitchen, lamenting how long the food may take when the place is busy. After some time I did finally get up and ask our server if we could atleast get our appetizers while we wait for the main course. A few minutes later everything except my wife's main course arrives. 2 minutes later I get up once again and ask the stupid question. "Hey, we are still missing one dish, is the Rigatoni with sausage coming soon??". The server says, oh..yeah. Now it gets wild... That dish never comes! I got up once more and asked one of the guys behind the counter if it was coming, he said yes. I ask for it to go, at this point.. He says are you sure? It is coming up now... I go back and ask my wife if that is ok, she says no she wants to have it here since we have a long drive home. I walk back up and tell him in fact, we will take it to stay. 10 more minutes pass... We try ordering dessert, the server gets us the wrong thing again, then we get the right thing..still reading? Good! Finally, I ask for the check and the young guy brings it and apologizes about everything and says are we sure we dont want the Rigatoni and sausage anymore? They are dropping it in the pot now....!!! What!!! Why not be honest with us from the start?? Why waste our time?? He gave us free dessert for our troubles and sent us on our way... Needless to say I am extremely disappointed. I am a manager at a restaurant and today was my day off. To see the staffing choices made with the server, to see stuff floating in my pepsi when I know how to take those machines apart and clean them because I do it everyday! To see how no one has control of the kitchen, when under these circumstances I would go back and cook the guests dish myself!... What a shame...the food is actually very good.. we...
Read moreSo excited to try this place based on reviews and recommendations from friends and family. First time here, And hoping we caught them on a bad night. After being seated they told us it would be a 30 - 40 minute wait because the kitchen was backed up. Finally when my baked ziti arrived, dry and over cooked, almost unedible, but I was hungry so I ate what I could. My date got his Chicken Alfredo and sauce was too thin, no flavor, he had to keep adding cheese to it, and the Chicken was overcooked. While we were sitting there we overheard another couple who had been waiting for a long time and ended up getting the wrong meal. Timing was all off. The people in front of us, seated before us were waiting on a pizza that they did not get until AFTER our meal arrived. It really was a disaster. We want to give them another chance but it will be awhile...
Read moreWho knew New Castle DE was the mecca of culinary Delights? This was a very well and lovingly made pizza shop cheesesteak. I went with the Tony and Dominick's special which included fried onions, peppers and mushrooms topped with sauce. This beauty even got a couple minutes in the pizza oven, nice little toast. They use Liscio’s rolls and I love a Liscio's roll but this Cheesesteak may have needed a touch heartier roll. I looked over the counter and a lot of stuff was being hand made. I was with fellow Facebook Cheesesteak enthusiast Bill Hughes. He has been to Tony and Dominick's many times and surprisingly this was the first time he got a cheesesteak. This was a very good Cheesesteak but the other specials look pretty darn tempting. Italian dishes come with a...
