Last week my daughter and I went to Booths Corner Farmers Market as we were leaving an announcement was made that a well known 🍎 catering company was having a buy one get one free sale on everything in the fresh case; so we stopped and to my delight I saw 10 or so containers of clams casino one of our favorites from this market vendor, after waiting my turn I asked for two and two other items. The counters girl very curtly said “The clams are not buy one get one” I said oh the announcement said everything in the case was bogo, as she was taking them out of the case she said “well the clams aren’t do you want them or not” there were others waiting and I was embarrassed so I said yes. The counter girl picked them up and took them to the register and went to wait on the next customer. As I was paying I very quietly told the girl at the counter that I didn’t think it was right to announce a sale then decide after a customer ordered something in the case that it wasn’t on sale. The girl who waited on me was standing close and over heard me; she came over and very smart and cocky said “look I told you the clams are not part of the sale they are too expensive we just had not taken them out of the case” I said again that I thought that wasn’t right, her sarcastic response was “oh well” I replied “ok I won’t be purchasing from here again” to which she responded just as nasty as she could “ ok bye, have a nice life!” I asked for her name and I told her I would be contacting the owner as my husband and I have done business with him for many years. This disrespectful girl then said “you do that and tell him I said hi” as we walked away we overheard her laughing and saying he won’t care it’s my Dad. I did email the owner and told him about the disrespectful sarcastic girl who waited on us. I got no response. This week not knowing we parked next to this same counter girls vehicle as we were putting our purchases in our vehicle she came out stared at me with a smirk on her face got the driver side rolled down her and the rear passager windows as she continued to stare at me and laughted as she said something to the back seat passages who then also stared at me until she pulled out and left. I again emailed the business owner but again got no response. So very sad that good customer service is not taught to young people, not to mention that a parent would allow their child to treat anyone let alone a paying customer with such condescending disrespect; then not even bother to acknowledge or respond to the customers e-mailed complaint(s), apparently the Appleton 🍎 doesn’t fall far from the tree!! My daughter will be getting married next year, we will be needing caterers for the bridal shower, rehearsal dinner and reception….that’s one catering company we will be crossing...
Read moreI have picked up to-go meals on many occasions from Appleton Catering. The food is always excellent and surprisingly low-priced. The lasagna is unbelievable. The cole slaw is perfect - like the old-fashioned, non-gimmicky cole slaw your grandmother used to make. Appleton Catering also catered my wedding; they came over and set up a couple of tents in our back yard; later, they brought the food, including the terrific wedding cake. The food was great - sliced roast beef au jus, Chicken Chesapeake, meatballs, and desserts. My friends ate it all - every bit. A few years ago, when Target opened their Christiana Mall store, Appleton's did it up right. Owner/Operator Glenn Vernon commanded one of the stations they set up; he put on a show, worthy of the best TV chefs. Throwing vegetables in the air, spinning and twirling various foods and implements, he drew a crowd - we laughed and laughed. And I haven't even begun to sing the praises of Appleton soups. Glenn makes all the soups - incredible bisques and cream soups, various chicken soups, and the list goes on and on - about 30 different soups. You can buy them at their store, frozen or fresh. Whatever you need, give Appleton's a call. Glenn's lovely daughter, Katie, or his beautiful and talented wife Cheryl, will take good care of you; and when your event is done, you will be a happy...
Read moreAppleton catered a banquet I went to last week. Let me just say… the food was absolutely HORRIBLE. There was a shrimp rice dish that had no flavor, and tasted weird. The roasted potatoes had no flavor, and looked like no seasoning was put on at all. The green beans tasted like you just threw them into the pan from a can. The Mac and cheese didn’t even taste like Mac and cheese. It was very very bland, and it was too thick, not cheesy. The chicken Chesapeake was dry, and the sauce that went with it tasted awful. Very very disappointing. There were A LOT of dinner plates with lots of food on it going right in the trash. I have never had such a bad experience with a catering company, and this is my first review ever because it...
