My wife and I were driving through the area and were looking for a quick place to stop. This restaurant showed up in Google maps, and it sounded good. I didn’t belief the price range (less than $10 per person), but more on that later.
Parking seemed plentiful along the main road through town until we got to the restaurant. We were fortunate to find something at one end of the block, or else we would have had to drive around the block to find something along a side street. So many cars out front, though, seemed like a good sign.
The interior isn’t large by any means, but we really liked the look. We were told to seat ourselves, so we took a table in the back.
A waitress quickly delivered our menus and brought us drinks. The menu basically follows the name of the place - primarily sandwiches. And the prices were really decent.
I wasn’t exceptionally hungry, so I just ordered a single cheeseburger and added some fixings like tomatoes and lettuce. My wife wanted the cheese steak sandwich. We also asked about some loaded fries, and we opted for the small size when the waitress described the various sizes.
The food came out shortly, and I have to say the first thing I noticed was the size of the basket of fries. These could easily feed two people. And they were covered with cheese and a healthy dose of bacon.
Nothing grand stood out about my burger, but it was juicy and tasty. My wife enjoyed her cheese steak as well, despite being concerned it was made with corned beef.
Everything came out piping hot, including those delicious fries. Despite not being hungry, I finished off the sandwich and ate a number of fries, but between the two of us, we weren’t quite able to finish them off.
When I received the check, I was pleasantly surprised to see there was no extra charge for the toppings on the cheeseburger. Additionally, our waitress gave us to-go cups and topped them off for us.
For the money, I don’t think this place can be beat. There are lots of inexpensive sandwiches and you could easily share some fries. Getting a soft drink would probably push you over $10 per person.
The staff were fantastic and friendly, so that just added to the experience. I’d highly recommend this little gem to anyone driving...
Read moreI have been a life long customer of sandwich shop. I have always loved the burger and fries. I have seen this place go through multiple owners. Pete made a lot of great changes which helped the seating and improved the food. His quality never varied and the food was always amazing.
Since the new owner has taken over I have been in 3 times. The wait time for food is very long. One of the 3 times I ordered a double cheeseburger and fries and it took an hour. The other times we waited 45 mins or a little longer for food. Then once we got our food it had lukewarm fries or they weren’t cooked all the way. This past Saturday when we went in our burger wasn’t cooked all the way through and our fries weren’t very warm. Along with that our waitress was extremely rude. She only came to our table 3 times in the hour and 20 mins we were there. Once to get our order, then bring us our drinks (which needed refilled 15mins into us being there), then finally brought our food. When she brought the food out she threw the check on the table too. While we were there 3 other tables walked out because they either hadn’t been waited on after 15mins of sitting there or their food hadn’t came out. The quality of food and service has gone down so much it’s crazy. I hope they get stuff straightened out. For my family and myself though this past Saturday will be the last time we will go to Sandwich Shop due to the...
Read moreWe moved to Delphi a little over a year ago and Wednesday 9/25/2024 was the first time my wife and I made it into the Sandwich Shop.
It was busy at lunch time with practically every seat of the small dining room filled, but we were able to grab a table as someone else was leaving. The staff was quick to get the table cleaned and reset for us to sit down and enjoy our lunch.
My wife ordered the double mushroom and Swiss burger and I ordered a grilled cheese and a chocolate shake, we shared a 1/2 order of the fries loaded with nacho cheese and bacon. The 1/2 order was more than enough for two of us to share so it was definitely worth the price. The milkshake was served in the ice cold metal mixing cup which only added to it's deliciousness.
It's definitely got that diner vibe with the counter seating and the grill in the middle of the room. The menu is a nice collection of burgers and sandwiches and the prices are more than reasonable in today's economy. The staff was pleasant and helpful even though they were busy with the lunch rush and the food...
