So many of these reviews look suspicious, like they were written by the same person / group of people.
I want to like this place, I really do... in theory, it's a concept I should love -- the Chipotle/Saladworks paradigm of going down the counter "assembling" your meal, but with Mediterranean food (particularly gyros).
When I first heard about it, I expected to be here frequently.
But, it's just not that great. It's not bad, but the gyro meat is rather bland and dry, and it's pretty expensive for what you get. Hard to get lunch here for much less than $20... and this just isn't a $20 meal.
And now, seeing all of these suspiciously similar reviews... hmmmm.
EDIT: What a completely tone-deaf, pathetic, ignorant response from the owners. "You must be a paid actor, or one of our competitors". OK, pal. Now you'd basically told me everything I need to know about you and how you run your business. Won't be spending another dollar w/ you, thanks for making my decision easy. I'll chuckle every time I walk into the Bagel Cafe next door.
Edit 2: I'm not a "paid actor", I live locally and shop locally. But you're clearly a conspiracy-minded loon, or maybe just a dumb know-nothing teenager. That's certainly how you come across. You really think this is an appropriate way to respond to a customer review?
Pay attention, folks. This is the kind of person you're giving your money to.
Edit 3: Now they've edited their response, but they still act like a child. What a loon. There's no hate here. It was an honest review, based on three different visits.
Again, if you think this is an appropriate way to respond to customer reviews, you might want to re-think your career choices.
Edit 4: Totally honest review, and not a word of so-called "hate". Hilarious that this idiot responds this way. Wonder how corporate will feel about it?
Edit 5: Again, not a single word of "hate" here at all. Did you even bother to read the review I left, or just the first sentence (which is the exact same sentiment a bunch of other reviewers stated, that there are way too many reviews using suspiciously similar language and phrasing)?
I'm guessing not. All you keep saying is "hate". Sounds like you have a complex.
Why don't you grow up, and actually respond to the actual review and...
Read moreThe service could use some work, but at least the food somewhat made up for it. We came to Garbonzo about a week after they opened and were a bit surprised that the staff was not friendlier. They were not outwardly rude - just not particularly friendly and were a bit short with their responses. Some of them also did not seem very knowledgeable about the food/restaurant (didn't know if brown rice was an option, didn't know how the app worked, forgot our pita bread, etc.), which was a bit frustrating because they had to keep checking with we each other to produce answers, which took awhile. The most glaring issue was that they're very stingy with toppings! Perhaps it's restaurant policy, but for the price, I would expect to get a bit more food in the rice bowl. There was barely any meat, and I had to ask for a little extra for some of the other ingredients (i.e., I asked for garbanzo beans, and they literally picked out 5-6 beans...). This is a new spot, so perhaps they'll grow and improve over time, but the start was definitely slow...
The shaky service had me worried about the food itself. However, I was pleased to find that the food was still pretty good. Even though the bowl was barely half full, the ingredients worked well together and tasted fresh. I was surprised that I was actually full after my last bite! The pita bread was also big and fluffy, which was a great surprise because I'm used to the pita bread at places like this being smaller. The fries were also delicious and seasoned very well!
Overall, the positive outweighs the negative, and I would definitely come back here! Hopefully, the service...
Read moreWell, I took a risk and was well rewarded. You see a place with 39 reviews and you wonder. Then you walk into the place and there is only 1 worker(very nice btw) and 1 other customer ordering, and you go hmm, should I be here. It's noon on a workday.
The answer is yes. First time, but for the price you get more than Chipotle. 12.99 for a rice bowl filled with whatever you want. At first I thought she was skimping on the rice, but that was only to leave room for the huge portion of gyro. Topped off with pickled onions, garbanzo beans, sun dried tomato hummus and the tomato/ cucumber salad. She gladly explained the difference between their signature sauce and tzatziki. She said it's more garlic. Accurate and tasty. The toasted pita was extra buttery.
The only "gotcha" is that it's $3.81 for an organic soda. I grew up with a grandma who used sassafras(we even chewed roots) that's the closest I can explain the root beer.
Next time I do an Amazon return at staples,...
