To start with: we frequented the FTL location(s) weekly. Everything was amazing, the sushi, the soup, the appetizers. It was our go-to.
When the Delray location opened we were SUPER excited, but my wife suggested we wait a bit, let them get into the groove. I regret not listening.
Ordered a double order of pork in the coco ramen, got half chicken, half pork. Like...how?!
NO FLAVOR. I mean, if I have to add a bit of salt I'm TOTALLY ok with it! Better under than over! But this was ludicrous. No seasoning, no salt, it was nothing short of bland. I wound up adding a ton of seasoning to it so it didn't taste like Oliver Twist's cabbage water.
All the protein was massively over cooked. I considered using the chicken (I in no way, shape, or form wanted or ordered) to fill holes in my drywall. Pork belly shouldn't have the texture of jerky.
We were SO excited to have a Phat Boy location in Delray since we moved from Fort Lauderdale four years ago. High expectations led to disappointment.
And the guy at the pickup window made me feel I was a HUGE inconvenience.
EDIT: 1/4 way through the ramen and WE ARE STILL ADDING SALT. I don't like super salty food at all, this is...
Read moreWe went for our first time on a Sunday evening at 8 pm and sat at the bar. Mimi was our bartender and was very attentive. The food was delicious.... the star of the show was the crab 🦀 Rangoon dip and the garlic shashito peppers 🌶 😋. After those amazing appetizers, we shared the Red Dragon 🐉 Roll and the chicken 🐔 hibachi. We tried the fried oreos but weren't on love and wouldn't get it again. We loved the dim and cozy atmosphere and can't wait to return to check out the HH and more dip!! UPDATEWe've come back now multiple times, and we also love Trey. He waits the tables in the restaurant, and he is awesome and accommodating and so social. Tonight we added on a couple new things we've never gotten like the TNT tuna (crispy rice tuna tartare) and the avocado tartare stack in addition to trying the spicy Margarita which was perfectly delicious with the tad bit of spice! We also did get the Steak Jerky, but we found that to be a little bit too chewy. Also beware we came on a Tuesday which is all day and night happy hour and it is busy! The kitchen made a mistake, but they were quick to fix it as well, so Props to...

I had an incredibly disappointing experience at Fatboy Sushi. Despite having made a reservation, I arrived on time only to find no one at the front desk. After standing there for what felt like an eternity, a staff member finally approached me, but instead of welcoming me, he brusquely asked if I was there for a pickup. I explained that I had a reservation, and he simply walked away without any further assistance.
The same person, who had a rather unpleasant demeanor, facial hair and a bodybuilder build, was not only unhelpful but downright rude. When I inquired about the front desk staff, he mentioned someone was busy with takeout—but again, he had no intention of helping me further. His dismissive attitude and flippant comments were not only unprofessional but completely unacceptable.
I’ve enjoyed dining at this restaurant multiple times in the past, but this experience has left a sour taste in my mouth. Something needs to change with how guests—especially those who make reservations—are treated. I will not be returning to Fatboy...
