My boyfriend is somewhat of a regular, he goes through the drive-thru on the mornings that he's scheduled to work, and experiences great service! The morning staff are always so wonderful! I've had similar morning experiences on my weekend commutes. However, on Tuesday (mid-morning) we both had the day off, and were just running around completing random errands and decided to go into the store. The drive-thru was a little long, but we were in no hurry! We entered the store and got in-line, there wasn't a lot of foot traffic in the store... only two other people ahead of us and a few costumers sitting with their drinks while on their laptops. Immediately after getting closer to the counter a man started barking at us about placing our order. So I placed my order first and it was a hot tea, and immediately after he snapped at me if I needed anything else. Okay... clearly, my boyfriend was standing next to me looking at the menu to order. I have never seen this barista before... and maybe he was even the store manager? To make this story short, his attitude was beyond poor. I understand that the Holiday season can be brutal but that's not an excuse for your professional demeanour. Both myself and my boyfriend have work experience as baristas; we know the atmosphere can become chaotic. This person was very pushy and rude! We only had two drinks and they were not outrageous requests, we usually stick to the same thing everytime. Once we made it down the line, my boyfriend started chatting with a barista he recognized from his usual morning stops. She kind of salvaged the experience, but I couldn't help but notice the other employees enjoying their time and being naturally friendly, while this one random barista standing around the POS was acting so cold! We saw the drive-thru was long when we got there, but had originally placed our order on our app for the drive thru.We went into the store instead to get our order & were told that the mobile app pick up time was not taking into account the drive thru flow.
We communicated that we were traveling with time frames involved & would like to know when our order would be ready. The barista/cashier -a young woman, was cordial, but clearly not supportive toward a solution & although prompted by us to look up the order offered no concern & only stated that we were 7th in line.
We waited, observed, & counted over 7 orders made & still no sign of ours. We approached the counter again at 5:05 & again the attitude was quite far from attempting to accommodate or provide a positive customer experience. Offering no solution, no support, & pointing to the business cards by the door and adding if we wanted to take it up with the “higher ups” to take a business card. Dismissing the matter to “the business card”.
We had to request a refund & we were told to pull up our order which was not visible on my mobile app any longer, but that same barista had pulled up our order when she told us we were the 7th in line. After, I reminded her that she saw the order & it was only 2tall caffe lattes- she rang up the refund with no apologies or attempt to care about the 40 min-experience which was the worst Starbucks encounter of all the years we have...
