My husband and I came here for my birthday dinner today, it had been quite a long time since we've been here. I don't know if there has been a change of management since the last time we were here or what, but someone needs to learn how to be more respectful and less judgemental of others. Plus, frankly just a better person in general if this is how you treat paying customers. As soon as we walked in, the older asian woman of the establishment takes one look at us and immediately makes a "bulging out eyes" look at us as if we walked in wearing nothing but underwear or something. She holds that expression looking away from us as if I couldn't see her and whispers to the hostess, the hostess then awkwardly walks us to a poorly lit corner nook seat near the bar as if to hide us away even though there were hardly any customers there (they repeatedly told people on the phone and at the bar how slow it was throughout our dinner btw). Not only that, but we were given menus that were falling apart. They had new menus the last time we were there, there is no way that all the menus look this way within a few years. At first I thought she had a problem with the fact that we were wearing hats, even though this restaurant isn't exactly fine dining with a dress code but okay. Then they sat a couple behind us, I was curious to see what they looked like. Did they have hats on too? The common thing between us was not the hats but that we were obese. Us 2 obese women were around the same size, we are not so big that we need to ride around in electric scooters or need assistance in any way physically. Even if we did, that is no reason to treat another human with such disrespect.
I want to note that we don't blame our server (she did a great job and was friendly), or even the hostess really. I don't know if the hostess had anything to do with it, but I think she could tell that I knew what had happened. It's not her fault if she is told to do something even if it is unforgivable belittling behavior, I don't know her situation. Even if for whatever reason I somehow misinterpreted the situation, I do know that something had happened with that woman's reaction to us whatever her problem may be. No matter what it was, we do not appreciate such rude behavior.
Other than the unsavory experience that will cause us to not return again, the food was as good as it used to be. It really is a shame, as this was one of our favorite seafood...

If the owners and family are around I would be careful eating the shellfish especially if you have a weak stomach
Otherwise tasty seafood which I have returned for and is hard to find in or near lansing so 2 stars. Won’t be going back now. If they’re willing to risk their liquor license to make another 10% of profit, they’re willing to risk your health to not have to throw out some lobster tail
Edit to their response about the liquor: I asked for shots of patron after the drinks we first ordered tasted like there was no alcohol just like every other time I’d been there. The shots were served with a lime and no ice. I’ve never heard of someone shaking a shot with ice before serving it neat. The server looked like she got chewed out after I politely let her know about it, and she also seemed trained to say the drinks are chilled which makes them watered down. The manager lady who came over afterward (to confront us after the waitress already took our still full shots and handled the situation professionally) while holding my drinks pretended not to know what was going on so that another management staff member could chime in to say the drinks are chilled on ice which waters them down. They’ve got the routine locked down. After I let her know its obvious the shot has almost no alcohol in it she asked how my food was before leaving hastily. She did not ask how my other drinks were because she knew I would’ve said they weren’t good. It was not a pleasant experience even though I was polite throughout and I still ended up paying over 20 dollars for drinks that were just juice and that I knew would be that way from previous experience. I was just hoping it was the bartenders who were making them wrong. Thats why I got the shots this time and found...
Read moreFrom the moment I walked in the door, I can tell that this was a interesting place with all of the writing and the signatures on the pirate. I guess everybody wanted to leave their Mark. The furniture and everything is outdated but it was a cool looking. Sea look really didn't care for my server and she was very dry and clearly you can tell she didn't want to be at work which made us not so happy with her. However, her food came out expeditiously which we were very appreciative cuz we were hungry. I just got iced tea and my sister got a pina colada daiquiri and she said was very crunchy because they didn't really blend the ice well but she liked the flavor. The sweet tea was awesome. The only other place that I've gone and they had an actual sweet tea was down south in Alabama. For appetizers we ordered the crab rangoon in calamari which was very good and hot 🔥 I got the crab boil. Just a regular with the tangy seasoning and a flavoring. My sister just got something simple cuz she wasn't really hungry. She got the catfish and french fries to which she kept wondering if it was sway. I couldn't tell but I didn't think it was sway but it was hot and fresh. My crab boil was good outside of the corn being real soggy and I don't even know how to explain it. You know when you bite into it it wasn't really crunchy and fresh. It was hard to chew so I didn't eat that. But the red potatoes were great. Sausage would have been better if it was spicy. My cluster of crab legs look like random pieces was thrown into my bag. My cluster actually only had two on there. Then everything else was thrown in. Shrimp was good. That was good and full. I don't really have any complaints other than the service and think if you are a server for a job that if you are having a bad day that perhaps, you shouldn't work that day especially when dealing with the public. I would recommend this place cuz the food was good. Too bad I can't remember the service name because I just wouldn't...
