The additional pictures came from My birthday this year(September)which turned out to be a raw New England day. My parents had made reservations for later, but we were in the area when they opened (4pm) and were able to sit early instead. Turns out they have 1/2 pints of Guinness Stout...made me feel like a Hobit 😀 but was a good way to make our decisions about dinner. The Irish band was just setting up and their music is lively and upbeat! Now everyone in my family wants to return to O'Shea's for their birthdays. My Dad chose the 100% beef burger with fries, and even though he said he wasn't that hungry, I noticed no crumbs left on his plate. It was the biggest hamburger I've ever seen. They're very generous with portions here and all their meals are fairly priced. My mom chose the lamb steak, (which we all usually try a small piece of, cuz that's what families do) and it was melt in your mouth ,no gristle/fat. She brought about 1/2 her meal home for 2nds, she was so full. I chose the lamb stew which was to die for! Huge chunks of lamb meat, very tender and full of flavor 😋...I could have eaten the whole pot out in the back kitchen. The 1/2 pints of Guinness Stout are the perfect size if you can't drink a whole pint, or in my case, I limit myself to 1 drink when I'm driving. We ended the birthday meal with a dish of bread pudding made with Irish whiskey. Our waitress brought it with 3 spoons, all in all an excellent way to end my adult birthday before I drove us home across the bridge. If you're a tourist looking for a great place to experience great Cape Cod food & music, you have to come here! If you're a local, O'Shea's should be one of your regular favorites and if you're outside of South Dennis, MA then this restaurant is well worth the trip! You can always do the "let's be tourists " do some site seeing and shopping, but O'Shea's is where you need to come to eat and finish your day. Highly...
Read moreThis is a really difficult review to write. There is so much that happened last night. Our reservation was for 6:30, a party of 4. Hint #1 (not taken) was; “Oh, I guess we’ll put you in the side room.” Hint #2 (also not taken) was a full parking lot with offsite parking 2/10 mile away… in the rain. Rest of party was seated when I got to the restaurant. The side room had 3 tables, one occupied by a party of 8. Their drink orders were delivered and mine taken. When it arrived we placed our dinner order. Well, except mine. At 6:40 they were already out of the lamb stew, a regular menu item (Hint 3?). I ordered bangers and mash as a substitute. Appetizers arrived in a not unreasonable amount of time. As it turns out, this side room was where the musicians prepped prior to going on. The upcoming band was in and out through the back door. It was not a warm evening. At one point the room had 12 musicians (from 2 bands) complete with full drum trap set, various stringed instruments, accordion, two waiters and us. Crowded to say the least. It would have been hilarious if the meals arrived just then. When they all filed in, and out, we waited. The hostess said it was a small kitchen and we should drink more. We were not served until we asked for the order to go. This was AFTER 8:30pm. I was ready to ask for the check for the appetizers and our round of drinks. I give two stars because, when we were FINALLY served, the food was delicious. But, NO ONE SHOULD HAVE TO WAIT OVER TWO...
Read more*Interesting place *Service was OK *Food was pretty good *Hostess low key called us liars and then treated us as an inconvenience because of their broken reservation system. *Another reviewer mentioned illegible bills. We had the same experience. Just to be safe we assumed the "18% gratuity to any table at their discretion" hadn't been applied despite our experience.
So, the look and feel of the place is super interesting, and my buddy followed the instructions on their website to make reservations for us (leave a voicemail) as part of a friend's bachelor party weekend. We showed up a bit early, totally willing to wait or come back later... instead they asked if we made a reservation, and when my budy explained what he did the hostess said he didn't because "she is always there." The waitress seemed a little annoyed by something about us before we even got to the table (we had barely said a word since it was so loud and we were too focused on not being in people's way). My buddies said the reuben and shepherds pie were amazing, and people liked their drinks too, but the one other less than ideal thing is we all left hungry. Again, atmosphere was amazing, and the waitress got better over time, just can't get over being called a liar by the hostess for their broken system. Included a photo of their reservation...
