If Komodo Loco were a person, it’d be that effortlessly cool friend who always smells amazing, never shows up with drama, and somehow knows exactly what drink you need before you do. Walking in feels like stepping into a secret society of good taste and better cocktails—and yes, I am a proud member. This place never misses. Whether it’s date night, friend catch-up, or a “treat yourself because adulting is hard” kind of evening, Komodo Loco shows up and shows out. The atmosphere? Relaxed but stylish, like your favorite hoodie got invited to a rooftop party and suddenly turned chic. The staff? Angels. Chill, attentive, and somehow always one step ahead. You won’t be side-eyeing a forgotten water refill here—Komodo Loco runs like a well-oiled, very delicious machine. Let’s talk food: chef’s kiss, chef’s scream, chef’s dramatic spin in slow motion. Every dish has that rare balance of artistry and flavor. Whether you’re a picky eater or a plate-swapper, it’s giving main character cuisine. You’ll want to savor every bite and aggressively recommend it to your group chat. And the cocktails? Whew. The bartenders here are mixology wizards. Each drink is a handcrafted masterpiece—balanced, bold, and begging to be posted on Instagram with a clever caption. They don’t pour drinks, they perform spells. 🍣 Pros Food That Slaps, Sizzles, and Stuns: Not a weak dish in sight. Every bite is a power move. Bartender Sorcery: These drinks have layers, honey. Layers. The Vibe Is Right: Perfect mix of cool, calm, and “wow I feel hot here.” Staff You Want to Befriend: Kind, attentive, and clearly vibing with the place they work. Location Goals: Right in the heart of Denton’s fun zone. Eat, drink, explore, repeat. Date Night Perfection: It’s romantic without trying too hard. 10/10 would flirt here. 🙃 Cons Small Space, Big Energy: It gets packed, so bring patience or a reservation. Price Tag Drama: Not outrageous, but not budget brunch either. Your wallet will feel it. Volume Up: Sometimes it gets loud enough to yell over your cocktail. Crowd Control Needed: Weekends can be a frenzy—get in early or get comfy waiting. Parking Purgatory: You might have to circle a bit unless you’re parking-lucky. Final Verdict: Komodo Loco isn’t just a place—it’s a whole mood. It serves flavor, style, and energy with zero apologies. Yeah, it’s popular. Yeah, it can get crowded. But the second you take that first bite or sip, you’ll understand why. It’s not just...
Read moreKomodo Loco in Denton is not an easy restaurant to find, so unless you've been told about it you might not come across it on your typical drive around Denton. But my wife & I were looking for a new place to enjoy an anniversary dinner, and we're so glad we found this place.
It started off a bit awkward when we put our water bottles on the table (we had brought them in so they wouldn't get too hot in the car) and were told that no outside drinks are allowed. To our memory that's never been an issue in any other restaurant we've been to, but we obliged.
Our server was very polite and attentive, and demonstrated a good command of the menu. Her excellent descriptions of the food helped us determine just what to order.
My wife & I shared little plates (tapas, if you will) of Brussels Sprouts; Shrimp Tempura with dill wasabi; tater tots (it's an Asian fusion restaurant, by the way) with chipotle aioli, sesame seeds, & scallions; a pulled pork Sami, and California-type rolls with avocado. The rolls & shrimp were excellent. Not too far behind was the Sami. The sprouts were pretty good (a bit more of a crunch on the outside would have boosted it up a few points), and the tots (Totchos) would also have been better if there had been more sauce added. For dessert, we had banana cheesecake egg rolls (sort of) with a raspberry coulis. It was very tasty, but for $8 it was a bit pricey, and it was a bit awkward to eat (we would have preferred to have the coulis as a dipping sauce rather than drizzled over the egg rolls).
Our cocktails were also very tasty. My wife had a cucumber-flavored drink, & mine was more of a sour. Sorry I can't remember more details. I was trying to do a web search on them but I couldn't find more specifics.
One of the owners was also kind enough to chat with us for a few moments. Overall, we felt well cared for.
All in all, it was a very good experience, and we look forward to returning to try some of the...
Read moreWhere to start...ok, let's do this. Came here on a Saturday night, interesting location down an ally with red lights out front. Restaurant was fairly full but we still snagged one of the last tables available. The service was ok, a bit slow though. Our coupon for a free appetizer was resended but not a deal breaker. Sushi menu is limited, which from a business aspect, is a fairly smart idea to limit the amount of waste. I ordered a spicy tuna roll and the shoyu ramen with crispy tofu. Girlfriend ordered the miso ramen with tofu. When it comes to sushi, I judge the place on the basics. If you can't get a simple roll correct, I'm not even going to try your other options. Spicy tuna roll came out first and was decent. Sushi rice was a little unevenly seasoned, but otherwise good. The ramen came out next and they were a little underwhelming. My girlfriend noted her ramen (miso) had the consistency of gravy. Having sampled it myself, I am assuming they added way too much miso. Her tofu also came out as "crispy" when she wanted normal. I say "crispy" because I was expecting pan seared crispy, which adds flavor. Our tofu was deep fried, which quickly becomes mushy in the broth. My shoyu ramen was also slightly thick but at the same time, bland. There wasn't a great deal of flavor that came through until I added the house made pepper sauce. Maybe skim some of the oil from the broth when initially cooking to lower the fat content. The oil will block the receptors on your tongue. Onto the noodles. These seemed slightly overcooked. There was no chew or bite to the noodles, but instead mushy and did not carry flavor from the broth. The eggs were perfectly soft boiled, and the corn was sweet. We didn't end up finishing our ramen unfortunately, nor did we elect to take the leftovers. We were disappointed considering how many great reviews we saw...
