I been to Fatima's in CA during a trip in LA and really enjoyed it. Both my wife and I were really excited when we found out, Fatima's was opening a location in Denton, TX (15 minutes away from us)
We finally were able to eat at Fatima's yesterday. We ordered the pollo crunchwrap and the trio burrito. The food was very good and really enjoyed it. The only thing, I would say the pricing was a bit high. The burrito was loaded but not worth $21.99 plus tax. I think a more reasonable price would $16,99 or even $17.99. Same with the crunchwrap. While it was filled good, I think its more of a $12.99 price rather than $14.99.I do understand ingredients are costly and rent is not cheap, but still for a town like Denton, the prices are bit high. That was not my issue though and the reasoning for my three starts. The three star review is mainly because of customer service.
My issues with their customer service actually started before yesterday. A few weeks ago, we tried ordering food from them and they were apparently closed due to a heating issue. (That is fine, things happen) Then last week, we were thinking of going. We tried calling the store a few times, but no one answered. So my wife asked in their IG page if they were open, and the person who responded to her was extremely rude. Do they have a teenager running their social media?
Even with that though, we still gave them the benefit of the doubt, and went for lunch yesterday. So we ordered our food, there was an older gentleman who took our order and it wasn't the best customer service but it was okay. We paid $41 plus gratuity. The younger guy who brought us our food was very nice and the only person there giving a good customer service. The burrito came with a salsa verde, and my wife asked for spicy sauce which the guy brought to her. We got the crunchwrap to go and I asked the guy for a hot sauce to go and he gladly said yes. Now here is where my issue starts.
The younger guy asked the older gentleman who now was in the kitchen for a hot sauce to go, and immediately the older gentleman started complaining to the younger guy about not giving those away as they shouldn't''t be free. I was right there and it made me feel so uncomfortable, like he made me feel I was begging for that sauce. I never carry cash with me, otherwise, I would have just gave it to him so he can stop.
Now, I been in the food industry for 20 years and I totally get it that if every customer asks for a hot sauce, the cost adds up. However, since you serve a fusion of Mexican food, one hot sauce should be complimentary regardless. Especially since you serve halal food and most of your crowd probably wants spicy food. So understand your customer base. The salsa verde you do give complimentary, is not spicy. Also your portions are a bit bigger for just one sauce.
Suggestions: If you want to charge for the hot sauce, perhaps bring it up when a customer orders. Say something like "hey, would you like a hot sauce on the side? It will be an extra charge"
Suggestion 2: To the older gentleman, please be aware of your surroundings, I was literally right there when you were complaining about me wanting the hot sauce. You could just give it to me for good customer service, and then tell the younger gentleman, next time to charge.
Suggestion 3: The younger gentleman has great customer service skills, so perhaps have him in the front and the older gentleman in the back since his customer service skills are not the best. I managed front of the house in restaurants, and that is exactly what I would do.
The issue is not about the sauce and If needed to be charged per say, but the way it was handled. Had you told me from the beginning that hot sauce would be an extra charge, I would gladly pay even though I already paid you $41...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Fatima's Grill and I must say, their burritos are absolutely amazing! From the first bite to the last, I was blown away by the flavors and quality of the ingredients. The burrito was packed with delicious fillings and the tortilla was perfectly toasted, giving it a delightful crunch.
One of the things that stood out to me was the generous portion size. The burrito was so big that I could barely finish it, but I couldn't resist taking every last bite because it was just that good. The combination of tender meat, flavorful rice, and fresh vegetables created a harmonious blend of tastes and textures that left me wanting more.
The attention to detail in the preparation of the burrito was evident. Each ingredient was thoughtfully chosen and expertly seasoned, resulting in a burst of flavors with every mouthful. The meat was juicy and well-marinated, the rice was fluffy and fragrant, and the vegetables were crisp and vibrant. It was clear that a lot of care and skill went into crafting these burritos.
The service at Fatima's Grill was also top-notch. The staff was friendly and attentive, ensuring that my dining experience was nothing short of exceptional. The atmosphere of the restaurant was cozy and inviting, making it the perfect place to enjoy a delicious meal.
If you're a fan of burritos, I highly recommend giving Fatima's Grill a try. Their burritos are truly a culinary delight that will leave your taste buds dancing with joy. Whether you're a meat lover or a vegetarian, they have options to suit every palate. Trust me, you won't be...
Read moreThe man who served us at the counter was very helpful. He asked if we had been there before (no) and told us about their best-selling dishes. He mentioned shawarma. I wanted the falafel platter, but I settled for shawarma. Then, oh surprse, they do have falafel. So I got that (I should say they only had like 5 or 6 menus, and probably a quarter of the dishes were crossed out, but not the falafel).
It seemed pretty janky that they were crossing out menu items, but we saw probably 3 or 4 people come in for takeout, so maybe it's good? The inside of the place is all painted Green and orange and not really ambient in a way that feels comfortable.
They didn't stock any diet sodas, which is pretty much all my husband drinks. (All drinks were pre-packed in a cooler.)
We got our falafel plate (nearly $20) in hardly any time at all, and while the food was ok, it was not exactly what I expected from the menu I had read online. We got 5 falafel on a huge bed of flavorless rice, maybe 1/2 cup each of hummus (which was very good), same amount of lettuce, cucumber and tomato salad (it was supposed to be fattoush), and 5 triangles of pita. When I asked for tzasiki, they didn't have it (they have gyro on the menu...?) Also I thought it was supposed to come with pickled turnips for the hummus (as per the menu), but just two thin slices of radish in the hummus.
I hate to leave a bad review because the man who took our order was very nice. The food was just ok (though maybe I ordered the wrong thing) and not what I expected to get. No tzasiki? Whatchoo talkin...
