This was my first experience at an extended stay hotel, and I was definitely not disappointed!! I was in Denton, TX for a week of training with my job, and picked the StayBridge Suites hotel since it was only a few minutes from the office building and on theyâre website stated they had full-size refrigerators. Since I was going to be there for the week, figured I would definitely need somewhere to keep the food Iâd be buying during my stay. Little did I know my experience would be so much more than that!! STAFF: I didnât interact with too many staff members, but the front desk manager and woman that cooked/set up the social hour food were friendly. SOCIAL HOUR: During the week Mon-Wed from 5:30pm-7:30pm you can enjoy 2 alcoholic beverages (beer or wine), sodas and juices, plus a small dinner. This was an extremely welcome surprise for me since I had planned on needing to eat out every night, but instead was able to enjoy a relaxing meal in the hotel. One night was chicken noodle & broccoli cheddar soups with a side salad, one night was pepperoni pizza and side salad, and the third night was baked potatoes with different toppings (shredded bbq chicken, butter, sour cream, etc.) and yep, a side salad. Each time the woman who cooked/prepared the food (Christina, I think) told me to take extras to eat for lunch the next day, they didnât want a lot to go to waste. Needless to say I didnât mind!! Having breakfast, lunch and dinner provided by the hotel for a few days was a fantastic treat to me and my debit card! BREAKFAST: The morning breakfast variety had plenty of options to choose from: scrambled eggs, cheese omelettes, oatmeal, cold cereals, fruit, muffins, bread, yogurt, hard-boiled eggs, waffles, coffee, tea, juice & soda. Those were pretty much constant each morning and then theyâd rotate between pork sausage & turkey sausage links, bacon and some days there were diced potatoes. Definitely something for everyone. Plus on the weekends the breakfast lasted until 10:30am, which is longer than any other hotel Iâve ever stayed. You could choose to sleep in a little and still enjoy a nice breakfast before check out. AMENITIES: They have a fitness area, laundry room, business area, pool, outside grilling stations and a large outdoor seating area where you could relax and sit by a fire. SUITE: The room was fantastic! I loved that I had my own kitchen, complete with full-size refrigerator & freezer (with ice maker), dishwasher, coffee maker (with packets to make tea or coffee), toaster, microwave, 2-burner stove top, salt & pepper, and cream & sugar. There were cupboards of pots, pans and dishes, silverware, towels, dish soap, dishwasher tablets and more that I could use. The seating area was a nice space to relax and eat some dinner while watching tv or a movie on my laptop. Bedroom area was pretty typical for a nice hotel â queen bed with lots of pillows!!! There was a large closet I could hang all my clothes in for the week, with tons of room to spare, and a full-size ironing board. Bathroom had a separate vanity/sink away from the toilet & shower, and the vanity had lighting all the way around the mirror (which made it nice and bright when getting ready every morning). LOCATION: Across the street from a mall and tons of restaurants to choose from. OVERALL IMPRESSION: My overall impression of this StayBridge Suites location was wonderful and above expectations from other hotels Iâve stayed at!! Maybe my experience was typical and simply the difference between a regular hotel and an extended stay hotel⌠I donât know, but I definitely enjoyed my weeklong stay and would absolutely recommend this hotel...
Read moreWe checked in Tuesday, 2/16/21, in the midst of the craziest winter storm Texas had ever seen. We booked the hotel around 4am on 2/16 which was a blessing, because I know they were sold out shortly after that.
When we arrived at about 230pm (Check In was 3pm), we were told rooms weren't ready yet as they were still being cleaned. There was 1 person who had arrived before us so they would get a room first and then we would.
The phones were ringing off the hook. There were 2 gentlemen at the front counter and I saw 3 other staff members while I waited to check in. It was common sense to me that due to the weather, some staff had not reported to work and hence they were short staffed and working twice as hard to prepare for guests.
Mr. Keith, at the front desk, talked to staff and customers with patience and respect even when he had to deliver hard news. I repeatedly overheard him explain to customers that even though they were booking online, the hotel was sold out of rooms. He also was on the phone with someone else trying to get that fixed. There was a lot going on and emotions were on high for many during this stressful time when people were searching for places that had power and running water.
Mr. Keith shared with me that there would be a social at 530pm and breakfast in the morning. I had no idea that the social would include dinner (so far pizza Tuesday and burgers Wednesday) and drinks (beer, wine, soda) for FREE. Now, I'm not sure if this is their norm, or it's just a little extra care and concern due to the winter storm (many food places are closed and roads are hard to drive on), but it was GREATLY appreciated! The staff served the food as COVID is still a concern. Most people wore their masks throughout the hotel, unless they were sitting down to eat.
The room itself was nice and clean. The dishwasher had just been run, so I knew all the dishes were clean. The water pressure in the shower was amazing! If we weren't trying to conserve water, I'd be taking much longer showers here.
The only reason I couldn't give 5 stars at this time is I learned that the City of Denton began a Boil Water Notice on 2/17 around 6:00pm. I even showed the notice to one of the staff members. There was never any communication from the staff to the guests about this, which put people's health and safety at risk. I don't know how this would have been done, but sending emails, posting signs in hallways and elevators, or printing notices for each room were all options.
Again, I know a lot was going on and staffing was short. Overall, I would definitely stay here again. The full sized fridge and tiny 2 stove burner were important for us during this winter storm. The staff was SO hard working and kind (especially if you were kind to them).
Thank you, Mr Keith and staff! We...
Read moreWe stayed in a 1 bedroom suite for 1 night and paid closed to $300 for it (through a 3rd party). I asked about upgrade options when I checked in and was told the hotel was sold out. |Both the beds in the bedroom were so squeaky they kept my family up most of the night. Even turning over slightly caused an intense squeak that caused the other person in the bed to wake up. |We were told by the front desk person that the sofa sleeper was a queen bed but it was barely twin sized and could only fit 1 person. There was a large dark brown stain on the corner of the mattress and the bed was extremely uncomfortable - the worst one my teen has ever slept on.|The lock on the sliding bathroom (the only one in the room) as well as the one on the bedroom door was broken and the door did not close all the way.|Overall, the room had a dingy feel to it. |I spoke to the front desk person the first thing in the morning about all the issues and he told me he would deposit 1000 points into my account but that was never done. |He gave me the card for their general manager, Keith, B and advised me to speak to him. When I spoke to him about the issues on the phone, he extremely defensive and stated I should have addressed the issues at the time they were happening. I explained we were not back in the room until late that night and did not go to sleep until midnight and did not know about the severe squeaking until then and my kids were already asleep. He said I should have still contacted the front desk to have these issues addressed at that time. I stated I knew the hotel was sold out so what could have been done in the middle of the night and he said I still should have tried to have it resolved in the middle of the night. I told him this was irrational and he loudly said to me not to use "foul language" while speaking to him. I clarified with him that he was talking about the word irrational and he said "yes, that is a foul word to me". He then stated this room was recently inspected and in no way could have any of these problems I stated and how does he know I am not just trying to get something free out of this?|I asked him to check out the room himself which he said he did and of course told me none of the problems were found. He offered me 500 points "for my trouble" which I declined because I will NEVER stay in another property associated with this hotel ever again. It was the WORST hotel experience I have ever had - mainly because of the attitude of...
