Tonight I finally had tj's after so many people have suggested it. With that being said this review is based off of one experience and I honestly can say that I do not suspect that there will be another after this. My girlfriend and I wanted wings and she just happened to be close to tj's when she called. I suggested it as it was close by and I had heard many good things. We reviewed their website which had different options for the amounts of wings and various other inconsistencies with the actual store (pricing, grouping of flavors, ect). On the menus we saw the wings were smoked, interesting enough, we expected the flavors to supercede the smoke. This unfortunately was not the case. The wings came in at a little over a 1.20 per wing for their largest pack offering. She informed the person at the register that she did not like spicy food, however I do. We ordered garlic parm wings, lemon pepper, nitro, and extra hot. We also ordered additional items. She was told they would bring them out to the car when ready in approximately 20 minutes. After approximately 30 minutes she reentered the establishment and was informed that no one had conveyed that information to anyone, and that the order had been complete for some time. They failed to give us all of our items at first and we had to ask them where the rest was, then they had not placed the sauces we requested with the order and we had to have that corrected as well. Once we got home after this we eagerly dug into our wings only to find out that they did not individually box the flavors and mixed both boxes with spicy and non spicy wings to my girlfriends disappointment. We got past it and got into the wings. I had expected real heat from the nitro wings, they did have some, but mostly I was just assaulted with the over powering smoke flavor. This was true with all of the wings, they tasted more like smoke than anything that they were flavored with. Our side items had gotten cold from sitting out at the store and then the trip home so I cannot attest to the original quality of the product, however I can say that they did not hold up well. This was a very unfortunate and over priced venture, and I have to seriously question the friends of mine who have suggested this place. It may have been a 1 off, or a bad night, I am unsure, but I cannot suggest this establishment from the experience I had today. I hope this review...
Read moreBLUF: don't order the pasta, and especially not the spinach.
After reading their glowing reviews of their pizzas and subs, I made the mistake of ordering the chicken Alfredo lasagna. It was a flavorless mound of gelatin. And when I asked to add spinach, I was envisioning fresh happy spinach like I've had from every other Italian restaurant and pizza place, not some nearly putrified blobs of freeze dried green slop. The spaghetti was an overwhelming experience of tomato accompanied by underwhelming flavored meatballs and a reasonable amount of cheese on top which nearly made it palatable. The five cheese lasagna was overcooked as well, but the flavors were otherwise spot on. The garlic bread was drenched in butter (without being soggy) and then sprinkled with minced garlic and parsley. Perhaps the real problem is that we ordered it delivered and so it was a cold, congealed mess by the time it got to us 15...
Read moreI moved to Denton in 2013. I used to live near the old location. I didn't have much money but when i did have a lil extra i would look for the best deal to have a splurge meal. I have had tj's meatball lasagna dinner so many times and I can always rely on it to be delicious and a great deal. I used to save some of the scraps for my dog who I had for 16 years. He would clean all the cheesy bits off the metal tray. It was our lil tradition. To this day when I order the meatball lasagna I get that cozy feeling and remember all the nights I had with him. Thank you for always being good and fresh!! Also for giving me nostalgic feelings from my beginning days in Denton with my best friend who is no longer with me. Tjs is a core Denton memory for me and is always a go to when I want a yummy meal. It has recently become my boyfriends go to as well, he loves the...
