I read a few negative reviews on here, some inventively hurtful making claims suggesting this restaurant was less than clean. Other reviews were from some supposed "experienced" folks insisting the food was not up to par.
We visited this delightful restaurant today, mainly because of their BYOB policy but we have been hankering for a delicious Gyro for some time now.
Although we usually wait to visit a restaurant at least three times at random times during the da before we give our opinion, I decided to submit a review today due to our overwhelming delight, not only with the excellent food, the kindness and professionalism of the staff, but as well as the uber cleanliness of the restaurant.
We ordered three platters, the first two at approximately 10 dollars, and the last at approximately 20 dollars. The platters ordered were the Chicken Souvlaki, the #1 special which consisted of a Gyro, Hummus, 2 Dolmas , and rice, and a sample platter which consisted of different types of meat, Tzatziki sauce, hummus, Dolmas, falafel, rice and pita bread.
We have eaten at some outstanding Lebanese and Greek restaurants in the United States and Canada and will suggest that Yummys definitely lives up to its hype. All platters were fresh and flavorful but the pita bread was super delicious. We did leave with the idea that all platters were definitely worth every penny.
Although our rating could change depending on where the Yummy's staff takes us on our subsequent visits, at this time we give this restaurant 4 stars and reserve the last for a future review.
We rate this restaurant as outstanding and recommend you visit if not for any of their delicious platters but at least for a delicious Gyro with your own choice of beer. You won't leave disappointed.
UPDATE: We made another trip to Yummy's Greek Restaurant and have updated our rating to 5 Stars.
Again, we were not disappointed. We had the same great service and quality. This particular time, we even got to use their facilities which requires one to walk right through their tiny, clean and immaculate kitchen. The restroom although needing an update, was very clean and comfortable.
This time around we sampled the fried eggplant. It was a nice surprise as it was very delicious. It is my new favorite.
I've uploaded additional photos of other specials all...
Read moreThis is more of a 3.5, the actual flavor of the food was good! Not the best but not the worst either. No food complaints beyond the tzatziki being watery, though it could just be cause it warmed up in the take out box. My main reason for this rating however is that the portions were abysmal. Like, stunned and felt cheated after paying almost $15 for a special and side of pita and the only thing with any real amount was the gyro. The fried cauliflower was one piece. A single cauliflower floret. Hummus was enough for one side of pita, which had to be ordered separately, and I had to stretch that single cauliflower floret to get the most of the tzatziki. Maybe in the past it would have been a better value but it's just not very good price to portion. I get it, inflation and all that, but it's not like customers are making more money either.
Will come back though when prices drop...
Read moreYuck! I've only puked at a few places in my life, I did here...sorry to say. This place has got to be in the top 5 worst dumps in Denton. We were served food in an old, dusty bag with animal? hair on it. Take the time to care? The atmosphere is great though (ha).....can you cut the sarcasm with a dirty, nasty knife? I also loved how the servers spent the entire time talking about bodily functions while people tried to eat....class acts, all of them.
When I got home and opened the dirty packaging around my stuff, I could clearly see and feel that what they served me, was something previously frozen ( had cold spots)......Well the overall experience was so poor, that I asked for my money back.
Two friends who tried this place told me they had a feeling, just looking at the place, that it would not be worth the visit. Sure enough, after going in, they were left with the...
