We live close enough that we should go here more, and our last experience really uplifted my opinion on it. We will be back sooner rather than later. Our server, Tarin (guy and sorry if spelling it wrong), was energetic, timely, and spot on. He really made the difference when we couldn't get a bar seat. As far as food, the Baller Bacon is fantastic, but I wish price was lower or quantity was higher. I had the Bacon Hash, and it is probably good as is, but I subbed bacon tots for the sweet potatoes and added hollandaise, and it was stellar. Good atmosphere and vibe. I would recommend whether you like bacon or not. But you really SHOULD like bacon in general, and that will make this place extra good. And if you really want to have a cheat day in your diet, there is a really good cheese shop a couple doors down.
Adding to my review (same rating) since I went today. First things first. If you are lucky enough to get Luba as your bartender or server, you scored. She is efficient, personable, and makes your experience here better. She also proactively overcame my pet peeve when drinking iced tea. She brought me an extra cup full of ice, so that my refill would have ice. THANK you that someone thinks about that. Iced tea should be...iced. Moving on to the food... The bacon flight is always a score. Pic is below with various options of savory-ness. My wife had the breakfast salad. HUGE portion and solid. I got the bacon hash and that was a score. Luba said it is the second best thing on the menu (to the shrimp and grits). It was great. Hot sauce already on the bar. Score again. Creative breakfast cocktails that my wife had. So, why the 4, I assume is your question. It was something out of Luba's hands, and the cooks. I get that post-pandemic, there is a built in fee on your bill. Keep it at 5% and below and I am fine with it. But, 7%? And then the machine only gives you a 20, 22, and 25% options for tip? That is a little out of line. If you want the extra percent, build it into the food prices (which is the other hit on the place...little pricey in my opinion). Anyway, if you are fine with the fee and the prices, this place's product is DEFINITELY worth checking out. Four stars with an asterisk (meaning it is really a five), highly recommend, and...
Read moreFor my second birthday dinner, hehe, we decided to try this place.
Location: Sunnyside neighbourhood, just north of the Highlands.
Ambiance: Relaxed, Retro, Rustic-Urban. We decided to sit on the patio. Tucked-in among taller buildings, it was perfectly shaded for an early summer dinner. The men's restroom is only a single stall, and the lock was not working as of 7/8/17.
Libations: I tried their take on an Old Fashioned. It was made with bacon bourbon; the added smoky flavor helped balance the sweetness of the cocktail. Bob tried the Mixed Berry Mojito; it was a bright pink color, summery and reshreshing. Travis' smoky sazerac was smooth. But Jeff's choice of the Laws Black Manhattan was by far the most sophisticated creation. I also had a glass of rose. It was just 'so-so'.
Appetizers: "Billionaire Bacon$" is $4/slice. It's smoked, candied and really slow-cooked (the fat had been rendered to perfection). You must try one slice!! It's a bacon restaurant afterall. We had read that this was better than getting the 'flight of bacon' option, and I'm glad we followed that Trip Advisor's recommendation.
Entrees: Jeff was intrigued by the sound of the blackberry chipotle jam that came with the bacon donuts, and asked if he could try a small side with the chicken bacon avocado wrap he ordered. The nice blonde waitress was happy to oblige; I'm sorry I didn't catch her name. Bob and Travis split the bacon burger. They asked for it to be cooked medium; however, it came out really well-done and was too dry. They had to ask for condiments to help swallow it down. I ordered the savory and spicy bacon shrimp and grits. Nicely sized grilled shrimp, bacon and jalapenos topped two polenta cakes (not really grits, but a great play on that idea). I added a fried egg sunnyside-up, because...why not?
Dessert: We had a scoop of strawberry-balsamic Little Man ice cream that we shared among the four of us...a great ending; the balsamic was super subtle-helped cut the sweetness to a nice adult version of strawberry ice cream.
I would go back, but order a burger medium RARE...
Read moreThe Bacon Social House (BSH) has an amazing atmosphere. The friendly host walks you to indoor seating with tables and a bar. A large garage door opens out to the patio which offers outdoor seating. We opted to sit outside. Some of the tables have umbrellas for shade and are configured for parties of 4-6. I visited on a summer morning and due to the two-story height of the building the patio was shaded.
Due to pandemic precautions, the menu is accessed on your smart device via a QR code placard on the table.
The brunch menu offered a wide selection of options that should suit most. There are typical ‘American’ breakfast dishes that includes classic benedict, a breakfast sandwich, breakfast burrito, biscuits/gravy, bacon hash, and avocado toast. All have bacon as a highlight (as it should be and it’s in the name).
The waitress was wonderful and all the staff were cheerful. Service was timely and coffee mugs stayed full.
My group got a ‘Bacon Flight’ as an appetizer. It was very unique and featured 6 types of bacon including applewood smoked, habanero, chipotle, candied, etc. BSH provides a set of scissors to cut the strips up for easy sharing. The bacon was cooked to perfection. It was just shy of crispy.
I ordered the Chicken and Waffles (pictured). It came with two waffles, a large piece of fried chicken, and a bacon gravy. The gravy had a nice kick to it but I would not classify it as spicy. There were two strips of bacon that came with it. I highly recommend this dish.
I was given one of the bacon hash brown balls from my friends plate... oh my. Simply incredible.
10/10 would go back.
UPDATE 10/28/20.
On a second visit to Denver from WA, another BSH visit was clearly in order! They did not disappoint. Service was fabulous, food was timely, the passionfruit mimosa was delicious. I ordered a ‘Whole Hog Omelet’ which featured pulled pork, applewood bacon, ham, cheddar, slathered with tomatillo salsa and paired with sourdough toast and bacon tots. It was...
