Overall - had an amazing time!

Food - oysters tasted fresh and delicious! The garlic butter is insanely good. And the devil butter was good too, with just a hint of a spice kick. Glad we got the mussels, we all enjoyed them, the bread was perfectly toasted, dipped in the broth and eaten with a mussel, we thoroughly enjoyed it. Definitely try their clam chowder. I’ve never had clam chowder with andouille sausage, but I absolutely enjoyed it and would order again. The octopus was really flavorful. Perfectly cooked too! The sauce in the ramekin was crazy spicy though, wasn’t ready for that. The fish and chips was just okay in my opinion. I wouldn’t order them again. (Btw, if you ever go to Epcot Disney World, Great Britain section, you gotta get the fish and chips there, best I’ve had in the US).

Service - fantastic. Every single person who stopped at our table was so nice and sincere. Great customer service. Our server was so sweet and patient. Everything came out quick too!

Ambiance and Parking - lively restaurant. It’s loud in there but that’s the vibe. It was busy so I highly recommend a reservation. For parking we easily found free street parking a block or 2 down. Side note, the high top booths are not as comfortable as a normal table would be. The bottom booth ratio to your legs isn’t quite right, like it needs to go further out towards your knees more to be more comfy. So if you’re tall or have long legs, ask for a regular...

I was really on the fence between 3 & 4 so I guess I give it a 3.5. We had a Friday night reservation at 8 pm and they have strict instructions that you only have a 5 minute grace period and $40 (iirc) if you no show.

I'm fine with these rules and they were clear about them when you make a reservation, but with rules like that I think there should be mutual respect. We arrived right at 7:58, but weren't seated until 8:15 without any explanation or updates.

The drinks were delicious and well priced, definitely get a cocktail. We got the mussels, smelt fries, crab stuffed rock fish and key lime pie.

The mussels were ok, not the most flavorful and a good amount weren't open. The bread was my favorite part which isn't a great sign. The smelt fries were also good, but only once we put on lemon and really needed salt. The stuffed rock fish was amazing, if everything tasted like that it would be 5 stars, so it is possible we ordered the wrong things. Key lime pie again was fine, nothing memorable, well made meringue, but the crust tasted like it could have been store bought.

A few quick notes - we sat outside and it was cheap furniture, very uneven ground and some weird smells. I feel bad for dinging them on that because it feels a little harder to control, but I wouldn't sit outside again or recommend it. Also, they kept messing with the music volume levels and changing songs before they were over, again not a huge deal but...

We came cause the reviews were awesome and as a fellow foodie, I had to see for myself! The host was so sweet and awesome(called in advance to make reservation). Server was okay; nice but not helpful. The menu can be misleading and she didn’t care to inform us of anything about the menu like our peel and eat shrimp came out cold! (Not a shrimp cocktail) when inquiring got a very aggressive answer and she walked away. Not a care to explain, apologize, nothing. No water refills the whole dining experience. When it was time to pay, we paid $100 bill cash. She reappeared to clear her other table with no change and no explanation. She brought it a few mins later but it’s alarming to not get a heads up. Overall the portions were very small(but pricey) blowfish was a 6/10. Oysters were pretty good and nice size . We moved from east coast where oysters were $1 and if I had to compare, the size of oysters were great and flavor wise, pretty decent. The mules weren’t shaken, so we tasted a strong sour mix flavor, no ginger beer flavor at all. We are used to lime juice in a mule, not sour( blame our strong bartending background) Overall would NOT come here again or...

My overall feeling about this place is: pretty good but not yet great. We would return, though, and are particularly interested in trying the whole bass or happy hour fish tacos. We had dinner at 5 PM on a Friday. A reservation is definitely necessary if you want a table. The restaurant is on the smaller side with about 8 tables, bar/high top seating for about 20, and a heated patio in the back. Staff were quick to help. While Fish N Beer is unpretentious for a seafood joint it’s not so casual it can’t be considered a nice date spot. We had the scallops, crab stuffed cod, and key lime pie. The scallops were the stand out and perfect for a small meal. However, to nit pick, the different kinds of carrots weren’t cooked equally. The orange carrot and parsnip matched while the purple was slightly underdone. The crab and cod dish was very rich; we weren’t expecting the crab sauce to be so heavy. I felt the cod was slightly over cooked but my wife said it was fine. The broccolini was perfect. The key lime pie curd and merengue were worth the calories but the crust was very hard and thick which made it difficult to eat and we ended up leaving a big crust chunk on the plate.
