Goosetown Tavern BBQ — Restaurant in Denver

We placed an order online for carryout and we definitely had high hopes for this place considering the 4.6 out of five star average review and we were not disappointed. We ordered the XL meat platter and the brisket was absolutely delicious and was fall apart tender 9.5/10, the pulled pork was great but we did have a couple of extremely chewy and burnt pieces but otherwise great 7.8/10, beans were fantastic although the meat was a bit tough 7.4/10, the okra was spot on 9.6/10, the Mac and cheese was fantastic 8.3/10, the Texas toast was kind of lackluster and we didn't enjoy it at all, 3/10, and the slaw was absolutely awful, vinegar taste like crazy, -3/10, the lemon pepper wings had a strong lemon flavor which I loved and weren't dried out like most places 9.2/10, and last but not least the potato salad was pretty damn good but it did have big ass pieces in it 8.1/10. Overall spent approx $60 and I will definitely go back again but definitely swap out the toast and the slaw for something else on the menu. Good vibe in the place and order was ready after my 25 min drive to go pick it up so 8.8/10 on service and ambiance combined....

Note: the menu has changed from what's on the listing. This seems like a nice bar to have a beer at. Avoid the food. Ordered the steak sandwich with salad, with dressing on the side. First you have to order at the bar, but their credit card machine suggests 20-25% tip! The food arrived (they do deliver it to your table) and the salad was submerged in ranch dressing. By the time I noticed, the server had left and I didn't want to walk it back to the bar (plus I'd already paid and tipped at the bar). The salad was lettuce, some onion and one slice of tomato. The steak was cooked well but the sandwich tasted like it was covered in French dressing. It was served with a steak knife in a paper plate/bowl so that when I cut the sandwich the knife went through the container. Overall it was an unpleasant experience of trying to wipe ranch dressing off salad and French...

Looked up this place online, seemed like it would be a good place to try out. However we, were in for a terrible surprise. The place did look nice, classy. However, the service was terrible, food was below average. The server couldn't remember the order coming back twice to get it right. However when the food came out 25 minutes later it was semi-warm. Two of four orders had the wrong items, toppings....after coming back twice to check you would think one could figure it out.

After this experience, I will never go to this place again. Even if it was just a bad server, the food was slow to come out. If you are looking for something out of the ordinary as far as food quality goes. Look elsewhere. I hate to be d*ck but this place sucked.

Proste (Highlands) and Post Brewing Company (layfette) are highly suggested. I just moved here and have been trying...
