I don't care for this place it's overpriced and extremely political. If you're conservative and you walk in there you might as well walk right back out. Trust me there are better places to get a latte in that area. I am not a very political person, but I don't like other's beliefs thrust upon me, especially when I just want a latte, hold the politics. I ordered an egg sandwich with brie cheese on a brioche bun, and when I got the sandwich the bottom of the sandwich was soggy and cold, you couldn't taste the brie cheese. Also, the egg and cheese was only like a little dab in the middle of this big bun so most of what I ate was soggy cold bun. The two Baristas acted like they couldn't even be bothered when I first walked in. I was not greeted when I walked in and I had to get the Baristas attention from talking to his buddy. When I went to order I asked the barista "hey man what do you recommend", and he's kind of stared at me blankly, so I just looked at the menu and asked for a latte and my egg sandwich. The most disgusting thing about this place was while I was eating my food there were flies all over the place and it really grossed me out. So, I would not eat here again, but who knows, you may like it. The latte is the only reason I gave...
Read moreGreat coffee shop, I've spent a lot of time here studying and working on my laptop. Good coffee and a full selection of teas. They're open later than most shops, which is helpful for procrastinators lime myself, and probably for the best since they serve alcohol too. Perfect for when you get on a roll and decide it's time to switch to wine ;). There's a variety of seating depending on your needs: sunsoaked tables at the front of the shop for catching up with friends, booths for study parties, individual seating if you just need to get some work done, and a downstairs space for that "basement of the library on a deadline" feel. I also love that they support local art. They display a new artists work every month or so, which helps keep the space fresh and gives what I'm sure is a much needed shout-out to some talented people on the come up. Do yourself a favor and try an independent coffee shop. And try their mate...
Read moreHooked checks a lot of boxes for the clientele they attract: locally owned, free WiFi, conducive to meetings/conversation, and fast service that isn't rude or pretentious. The biggest reason I make it a point to go regularly is that they tend to select interesting artists to show and the prices are budget friendly.
In addition to the coffee, they make good smoothies. I like to sit close to the windows and take in some people watching on East Colfax. It's next to the Bluebird Theater so you might see performers getting caffeinated before their soundcheck.
As more people and businesses move into this area, parking is harder than it used to be (some side streets are restricted to residents only during certain hours) but during the day you can always find a free 2 hour parking spot on Colfax within a...
