Illegal Pete's DU — Restaurant in Denver

Since the moment I heard about this place it instantly became my favorite place to grab a bite to eat, my recently my experiences at this location have been extremely poor. Today I ordered a steak quesadilla, curbside pickup. 30 minutes after arriving my food was still not out, so I went inside. I got my food and went to work to eat, little did I know I got steak…in a burnt shell. I’m not talking like a little crispy either I’m talking BURNT to the point it was like a giant tortilla chip and there was no cheese in it at all. So my lunch was a burnt shell with nothing but steak in it. A couple weeks ago I went during lunch time, it was pretty busy but I justified it was worth the wait. It got to my turn to order and I attempted to order a steak quesadilla and the lady replied “we are busy, can you not see that? Unless you’re going to fall over and die if I don’t make you one then it’s not happening” (word for word that came out of her mouth 🤯) AFTER I waited in line for 45 minutes, and I could still order a quesadilla on the app, or by phone for pickup. Her comment confused me and she was insanely rude. She was pretty tall and had red hair, but refused to tell me her name. The last 2 times I’ve been here I’ve had extremely poor service and disgusting food. I understand it’s busy and a popular place, but that does not give the employees the right to treat customers like trash. I should’ve realized how bad the service was going to be when I saw the guy serving the news anchorman on TV for “Breakfast Burrito” day. The food wasn’t terrible but it had no flavor.

As soon as we walked up to the start of the assembly line, the first two people portrayed the stereo-typical College student “self-entitled” attitude that has been getting so much attention these days.

The first guy was disrespectfully sarcastic and the second girl kept sneering at my wife. It was sickening. Had my food not already been more than halfway down the line and had my family not been hungry, I would’ve taken my family out and went somewhere else.

We didn’t expect that the shredded beef would have chile slices. Not everybody in a family likes their food spicy. If you have a family, it may not be worth it to take them here in the first place.

First impressions are everything and I know the Illegal Pete’s near DU may not be a good representation of all the others in the metro area. Had that food even actually had flavor, we might have tried another location.

The reason I give this 2 stars and not 1 is because the manager did try to make it better.

This was thee WORST Pete’s experience EVER! We waited over an hour past the time our food was supposed to be ready. We tried to get a drink which took no shorter than 30 minutes from the one bartender, on a Friday DU hockey night. We waited so long for your food that we were made late for the DU game. We got in line and told the guy that we wanted a refund or our food. Chips were gone by then. The guy wearing sunglasses and a t shirt saying “vibe adjustment” took out order, was not helpful and then passive aggressively handed me my cold fish tacos. He needs to be fired! He was so unprofessional! I love petes but this is the worst customer service i have ever experienced. Whoever manages this store needs to be fired! I am so sadden that this happened. So much for the new renovations that were supposed to help the flow of this restaurant. I will NEVER COME BACK TO THIS LOCATION. Shame on you for taking my money, not delivering and then giving me sub par food that was less than what we ordered. It was the worst petes food I have ever had!
