I'm visiting Denver from Chicago and after dinner with friends we decide on a whim to get ice cream. The closest shop? Sweet Cow - Highlands! Do we know anything about it no? Nope. Does it have gluten free, dairy free? Yep. Cool, let's go. So off we go...
First of all, we arrive at an adorable clean little shop where literally everyone is happy and having a good time. The tunes are jamming. The line is moving. it's a great space.
We get to the counter. The staff greeted us enthusiastically, asking what can they get us. I have no clue. literally everything sounds delicious. I'm in choice overload panic. Zoe (give her a raise) asks if I'd like to try something. You know I would love to! What's my limit? I'm thinking 2... if I'm lucky 4... Zoe says (and I kid you not), "Wanna try all 24?" Wait, what?! I can do that?! Should I do that?! Another nice staff member with beautiful red hair whose name I didn't catch (so sorry) says "You can, and of course, you should." I mean, twist my arm. I'm in!
I'm escorted out of the line to the little counter bar where Zoe provides a cup of 24 little wooden spoons in a cup and a cup for when those 24 little spoons get used. She then cheerily and patiently leads me through a delightful taste test of 24 of the most delicious ice cream flavors I have ever tasted in my life. I dislike berries, but even all the berry flavors were good. I'm not vegan, but the vegan flavors tasted like non-vegan ice cream. They even had a Gatorade sorbet that was out of this world refreshing. Zoe didn't rush me even once. She seemed to be having as much fun as me.
Trying to narrow down the selection afterwards was excruciating, but it was so worth it. Everything was excellent. The customer service, the product, the experience... I would without doubt, one hundred percent recommend this shop to everyone who comes to Denver. It is a must visit right up there with the mountains. Truly. Unequivocally. 5 GOLD STARS, 2 THUMBS UP. LOYAL...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is the best ice cream in Denver. There is absolutely no question about it, not a close runner up. Iāve tried ice cream in nearly every corner of the earth and nothing does the trick like Sweet Cow. Iām not keeping count or anything, and I donāt know what or if anyoneās ever kept record but I may have had Sweet Cow daily for the last seventy two days and aside from the day they pulled PB&J out of rotation (actually worst day of my life), they continue to be the best part of my day. Am I biased? Sure. You would be too if you accredited your chiseled build, strong bones and full head of hair to ice cream. To be fair Iām somewhere between a six pack and dad bod but alas, my vitamin D intake is strong.
The flavors are out of this world and while I hate to see an old friend go, I squeal at the chance to try something new. Their classics are to die for, and everything they sling tastes freakishly like it should. Boston cream pie yāall is made with vanilla pudding ice cream. With cake and fudge. What. If youāve ever wanted to know what a waffle cone should taste like, look no further as they crank them out fresh by the hundreds all day long.
Yes youāll probably wait in line after dark, and yes itās ok for you to try whatever you want. The team here is so much fun and if youāre nice to them theyāll make your day.
Sweet cow, I love you. Some day Iāll find a spot on my canvas and make my love for you permanent. Until then, Iāll continue shamelessly inhaling whatever it is you can put in a cone.
Oh and theyāre super pup friendly (service dogs only inside) but they have pup cups and you can hitch Fido up on the patio. A dog that I walk in the neighborhood sometimes likes to wiggle out of her house and the only place she runs is to sweet cow. That...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have stopped in here many times while out driving Lyft, but the last visit warranted a review. I stood in line for 15 min., and saw many people go through, observing their transactions. One gentleman had a large clear plastic cup with 2 large scoops of ice cream, and he paid the $6.21 for the 2 scoop price of $5.75 + tax, and his ice cream was all the way to the top of his large cup. I also observed many people getting taste samples, and some of them were very large and almost falling off the tiny spoon. So...I stepped up to a short-haired woman who came from behind, and she gave me 2 very TINY scoops on a separate taste spoon, and it was like a crumb and barely enough to even guage taste! Then I ordered what I thought was a 2 scoop cup like the one I saw the man earlier purchase for the exact same amount. This lady gave me a small cup with what looked like 1 scoop in it, because it did not even go over the top of the cup! See the photo attached and tell me that 2 scoops fit in here without even rising above the top!?? Because of the crowd, I left and called and spoke to someone who told me every scoop was weighed and all are the same?? I stated that was wrong, and I know what I saw in that shop, as far as 2 scoop cups of the same price in different size cups and way different size scoops of ice cream. I guess people really differentiate their service to their friends! I feel totally ripped off, and will NOT return here for overpriced ice cream that is completely biased upon the server's size choices. š MaGill's Ice Cream in Lakewood has much bigger servings at a much better price, and they are very fair...
